Amazing day doing the Rob Burrow Leeds marathon today!

No full marathon for me today but happy to do a small section helping my clients in Team JR get a very respectable combined time of 3 hours 25 mins!

Special well done to for a 5k PB (almost) and to for carrying on his section as he knew he was on for a 10k PB , a sub 50 min 10k across a very hilly course is awesome!
Also well done to for smashing his 5k PB too! Over a minute under expected prediction! 23 and a half minutes!!

All clients got sub 5 min per km splits! Well done Immy, Steve Crouch, Steve Caulfield, Immy , Owen and Terry!

Here’s to more client races, was a lot of fun! 💨🤝🏃‍♀️

I did this last year after Brighton but here’s just a little overview and a few take homes I’ve realised in the last 16 weeks of my marathon training, combined with last year’s marathon training of course!

I am by no means an expert in the slightest having only ran 2 marathons so far, but these are a few things that have helped me.
I hope anybody reading these whether you are a beginner runner working towards your first park run, or a seasoned ultra runner can take something from these little nuggets of information/ advice!

Good luck for anybody in marathon season currently! We’ve had a few so far but still the big London one to go, alongside Leeds, Edinburgh etc!

Comment below which one you can relate to the most or which marathon you are doing / have or are working towards for next year?⬇️👇

Thank you for reading and have a lovely rest of your week! 💪🏼🙌🏼🏃‍♀️💨

Wow! What a day!
A 3 hour 36 min marathon!! 🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️🏃‍♀️

Came here with a time target in mind….sub 4 after being 8 mins over last year at Brighton!

I tried not to put too much pressure on myself. I didn’t check my watch at any point in the first twenty miles!

The plan was to make as much ground up in the first 30k as I could and then just run/walk the last 12k if need be. And enjoy it more than last time! I certainly set out too quick & let adrenaline kick in and was probably far too quick for the first half of the race. But I decided to play a dangerous game & see how long I could hold on for! Probably not the best idea for a full marathon and could easily have back fired!

I got to 35k and looked down and saw I was around 2 hours 53 or just under. I knew at that point I was on for a great time, much better than I ever could have thought!
I had started to struggle but I knew I could get to the finish line! I had done it before and this year I was stronger, faster and better and trained even harder!

Taking in the crowds, my music and voicenotes from my lovely clients, family and friends, soaking in the the atmosphere, looking UP rather than at my watch and trying to take it all in. Crowds of people all there to cheer you on, thousands and thousands of runners. I really let the crowd pull me home for that last 4-5 miles!

I’d done enough - and got over the line! In a time I could only have dreamt of too!

I was so so shocked to have taken 35 mins off my time from last year!! Still can’t believe it! A marathon in 3 hours 36 mins!
But I didn’t put any pressure on myself. I just wanted to run my race. Felt great up until 30k, then it was a mental battle!!

Thanks so much to all my friends and family and lovely clients who left me a voice message on each kilometre, without you guys’ and your support I’m not sure I would’ve made it through!!

Well done to everybody out there today, you all smashed it!

I’ve proved to myself I can do hard things…and never say never I suppose ….if London marathon became an opportunity , maybe I’d go again - but for now let’s stick to Half Marathon and 10k distances, I enjoy those more! 🏃‍♀️💨🙌🏼💪🏼🔥💃

Since Run for all have decided to cancel the Hull 10k event this year, I have decided to create my own for clients, but anybody is welcome!!

We are going to do a 10k course, starting at my home gym, JRFITNESS, going through willerby via the back of Springhead golf course into Main Street, Willerby low road, through Cottingham and up priory road, making our way back to the gym to finish!!

Whether you want to run, jog, walk or do intervals…or anything inbetween, I will also be looking to get some volunteers to help provide aid and water stations and support across various points of the course, so would be good to get as many people involved as possible!

I will be in my car providing music through a speaker and moral support and encouragement throughout!

We will even try and get some “race day photos”, medals and goody bags!!

Please share this post to spread the word!

31st May, 10am start! We will be providing a warm up outside our gym @ 9.30am, ready to set off @ 10am!

A few of the team at JRFITNESS took on the North Lincs half today!!

A special day and a day of PBs all round for the team!

Starting with Terry, who had of goal of a sub 2 hour first half marathon, which he managed to do! After doing a 10 Mile race at Snake Lane last week as a prep, today was officially the furthest distance he had ever run…he’s feeling fitter than ever, which is amazing! A huge well done as he’s worked so hard over the past 12 weeks or so, following his plan to a T, in the cold and dark and rainy nights after work!

Immy has also been a great support to Terry accompanying him on many training runs…before deciding to enter himself only yesterday!! Having not really trained specifically for this race, he managed 1 hour 51 mins 56 seconds - almost making sub 1 hour 50!!

Next up is Steve who completed with a time of 1 hour 53 mins - a two min PB on this course!!

Well done guys, you all absolutely smashed it - here’s to resting up before putting our heads together to discuss a game plan tactic for the Beverley Half in August! 💪🏼🫡🏃🏃‍♀️

Finish line pic from the Skegness 10k at the weekend!

All time 10k PB!

Goal this year is to get a sub 45 mins - long way to go but have a target set for the Hull 10k!!
Will be tough with marathon training as the runs get longer 🏃‍♀️💪🏼

Let’s go!

First race of the year!

A very cold and rainy winter special at the Brass Monkey Half!

Everything that could go wrong went wrong - phone got water damaged, took two and a half hours to get home, had a bib with the name James on it 🤣🤣 I also ended my run on my watch due to the rain at 15k in and had to split the run into 2 so don’t have any full stats

However a time of 1 hour 42 mins 50 secs so not too shabby and a good baseline for my marathon training for the Manchester marathon on the 19th April! 💪🏼🏃🏼‍♀️

Ahhh 2025! A year I’ll look back on fondly!

I said each month I’d have a weeend down in London to see the family and my nephew Noah …which is something I managed to do!

I set myself a goal at the beginning of the year to have more of a work life balance, without losing clients and continuing to grow the business, just without putting ever single waking hour into it.

It was the first year I actually took 28 days holiday! I enjoyed 3 holidays and a few weekend breaks and weddings over the course of the year, without the feeling of overwhelming stress that I needed to be working constantly. When you’re self employed there’s a tendency to work every hour and every day or weekend under the sun but this is the first year I feel I have achieved balance. Not only that but the business has grown even though I have enjoyed more time away from the business. I even got nominated for a small business of the year award which is truly one of the proudest moments of my career so far.

I trained for and ran my first marathon!

Shaved ten minutes off my half marathon PB

Hit multiple 10k PBs and am feeling fitter than ever!
We welcomed to the team who added his own spin on coaching and brought great ideas into my coaching which I’ll be forever grateful for!

ran the furthest he’s ever ran and hit a sub 50 10k

ran another marathon and walked 70+ miles in 2 days and raised thousands of pounds fundraising for MND - she continues to inspire me!
first half marathon!

getting a 10k PB by two minutes despite having injury struggles

shaving 10 mins off her previous 10k PB at the Grimsby 10k and running the Manchester Half Marathon!

ran a sub 55 minute10k
first powerlifting comp!

Over 17 pieces of educational resources delivered (webinars / cheat sheets

A fantastic Christmas client awards and party…I would say the best yet!

Overall a fantastic year full of success for myself and clients! As always thanks to my amazing clients and family and friends who’ve supported me along the way and made this year possible

What will 2026 bring?
