Kingswood United Development 1 - 1 Great Driffield Ladies

HEART, GRIT & A MOMENT TO REMEMBER 💛🖤

It’s been a tough season for Kingswood United Development, but this group never stops showing up with belief, spirit, and a smile. Bottom of the league, zero points… but never zero heart.

Today was always going to be a huge test – just 10 players for the full 90 minutes. But what a performance.

A battling first half saw us earn our first goalless half of the season 💪

We went behind in the second half, but heads never dropped. The work rate, determination, and togetherness never wavered. And then… with seconds left on the clock Kingswood won a free kick on the edge of the box.

Captain Izzy steps up… and SMASHES it home bringing the game to 1-1.

A fully deserved first point of the season – and what a way to earn it.

Playing 90 minutes with 10 players is tough. Doing that and getting something from the game? Outstanding.
Couldn’t be prouder of every single one of you today.

Go and enjoy that well earned drink, ladies, you’ve more than deserved it 🍻💛🖤

Want to say thank you to the supporters who came to watch and also thank you to Driffield Ladies its always a pleasure, great bunch of girls to top it off too 😀

M.O.T.M well that goes to every single one of you 👏👏

The skippers rocket of a goal in the comments. 🚀

A massive thank you to Liam for his incredible bravery and kindness in taking on the “Brave the Shave” challenge. 💚

Not only did you shave your head for a stranger and their family, but you also raised an amazing £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Support, what an outstanding achievement!

Your selflessness, courage, and determination to make a difference truly shine through. You’ve brought hope, support, and inspiration to so many people, and that’s something to be incredibly proud of.

An amazing effort for an amazing cause thank you so much liam. 👏💚

This means the current total we have raised as a team and with the incredible help of others currently stands at £3000 😱
There’s still time to donate to our amazing cause..

The first ever meeting with the Scarborough Sirens ladies saw Kingswood ladies fall to a 14–0 defeat but it wasn’t just any game… it was Kingswood’s first ever game as a team.

Every team starts somewhere, and that day marked the beginning of the Development teams journey.

This weekend brings the reverse fixture.
A chance to show the progress, the growth, and the fight this team has built since that very first whistle 🔥

New game. New mindset. Let’s go, Kingswood!!

Kingswood FC can confirm that Mel Walsh has stepped down from her role as Ladies Team Manager due to external commitments.

Mel joined Kingswood four years ago with the aim of helping us complete our girls’ football pathway and establish our First Ladies team. As a player-manager, she has brought passion and dedication to growing the female game both on and off the pitch. Her work has played a key role in developing the club’s women’s section, and the introduction of the Development Team this season has created further opportunities for players from our girls’ teams to progress into the adult game.

The growth of the women’s setup has required significant commitment behind the scenes, with many hours dedicated to administration alongside work and family responsibilities.

Club Chairman Paul Richardson said:
“Mel was asked to join Kingswood four years ago to complete our girls football pathway and create our First Ladies team. As a player manager she’s brought passion for growing the female game both on and off the pitch. With the creation of the development team this season it’s also allowed more of our girls teams to progress into the adult game. Of course this has been a challenging transition and has brought extra pressure and hours away from the pitch with admin alongside work and family commitments. Mel messaged me yesterday morning and we had a conversation last night. Mel is a fantastic character who wears her heart on her sleeve and tells it how it is!!
I’m really pleased that Mel will continue to play for the club and hopefully get the buzz back for scoring goals and working hard for the team in what’s been an injury-plagued season for her.”

Everyone at Kingswood FC would like to place on record our sincere thanks to Mel for the hard work, passion and dedication she has given to the club in her role as manager over the past few years, and we look forward to continuing to see her representing the club on the pitch.
