It's a killer!

Strangely I do love a lemon

We are revisiting this because the full is now linked in the comments.

Too many beginners assume they can bypass fundamental skills by "just biting or gouging an eye".

The harsh truth: if you cannot survive against a trained fighter, you will never stay conscious long enough to use dirty tactics.

As Paul Vunak points out, the "filth" is useless if you cannot deliver it against a resisting opponent in the guard, mount, or bad street positions.

You must be able to absorb pressure and work through the chaos to create an opening.

Master the fundamentals first.

Dirty tactics are only ever as good as the delivery system behind them.

Does trapping actually work in a real fight, or is it just compliance?

Paul Vunak cuts straight through the debate: trapping is simply clinching. It’s the gritty hand-fighting, inside control, and head positioning every combat athlete uses at close range.

The critics are right about one thing, though—trying to pull off static Wing Chun traps at a distance will get you caught. You can’t just wait for an arm to freeze in mid-air.

To make a trap land, you have to disrupt your opponent first with a sharp strike or distraction, then capitalise on the reaction.

Control the centre, force the flinch, and the trap takes care of itself.

Too many beginners believe basic skills are enough because they can "just bite or gouge an eye."

The harsh truth: if you cannot survive against a trained fighter, you will never live long enough to use dirty tactics.

As Paul Vunak points out, the "filth" means nothing if you cannot deliver it against a resisting opponent in the guard, mount, or bad street positions.

You must understand how an attacker fights, survive their pressure, and work within the chaos to create an opening.

Sun Tzu said it best:

"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."

Learn the fundamentals first. Dirty tactics are only as good as the delivery system behind them.
