Hi everyone, hope you are all well!
I know we are nearly into the third month of the year already and I've only just made my first post for this year, but since the new year I've been keeping busy working two days a week in nurseries and schools with my classes then on the other days working as a Supply Teaching Assistant with the Deaf. I miss running my class at The Church On The Way on Tuesday mornings, but with all the uncertainty surrounding rules and regulations to do with the pandemic I needed to bring money into the household another way to support my family. I will be looking to see if it's financially viable for me to start the classes again over the next few months, and once I know I will let everyone know.
The other week I saw quite a few Rock-a-tots children from pre-covid, also children who had left for school in previous years and are now in year 1/2 when hosting a birthday party at the local church hall. It was great to see everyone again both children and parents, all the children were keen to join in and get involved with big beaming smiles, which made the party an absolute pleasure to host. If anyone would require or knows anyone who would like a Rock-a-tots birthday party please do not hesitate to contact me via the inbox.

Hi everyone, just wanted to pop on and give you an update with regards to classes.
First of all I hope everyone has been keeping safe and trying to get back to some kind of normality.
In February of this year I’ve managed to get some extra work to get me through, working within a hearing unit in a school. This has been great and it’s within the field that I had been studying in my extra time before the pandemic. I am still doing this work part time along -side Rock-a-tots classes in the nurseries which are slowly allowing me back into their settings.
My classes at the Church On The Way on Tuesday mornings have been my pride and joy and would have been celebrating its 10th year this year, but unfortunately due to the restrictions and us not being allowed to open I haven’t had the chance to celebrate. I was hoping to re-open in September but still the venue has a lot of restrictions in place, so with this in mind it may not be financially viable for me to open with limited capacity. Plus I have been asked to carry on working part time within the hearing unit in September which as you will all understand is better for me and my family during these unprecedented times. I will review the restrictions in place at the venue again before the end of the year, and if it is all good may look at starting classes again in January 2022.
I am sorry if you have been waiting for me to re-open, I have too, but I’ve had to make sure it was safe to do so and as I mentioned earlier had to take other work to make ends meet. Plus I know a lot of you and your little ones will have moved on going back to work, starting nursery etc. So if your child is at nursery you can pass my details onto them and if the nursery accept my classes into their settings that’s another way your child can experience my classes again.
This week would have been Graduation week at my Tuesday morning class for the school leavers, last year’s Graduation had to be done virtually because of Lockdown, but it was received well and very successful, the children and parents were brilliant.
I have put some pictures below of some past Graduations that have taken place at Rock-a-tots over the last few years. I wanted to share the memories of what usually is a special moment for the children, parents and myself.

Hi everyone, firstly I'd like to wish you a Happy New Year and hope you had a lovely Christmas in this unprecedented time.
I am sorry I have not been on here for a while but as the year went on and with the large number of children leaving to go to school, I found that when I restarted the classes in September as I had not been able to build up the classes with new children because of the pandemic, this then meant that there were only a handful of people watching the Facebook Live classes. I understand it's hard to keep children of such a young age engaged through screens, but I feel I have tried and given it a go to still provide a service and as time went on it was so disheartening when your not getting the numbers, reactions or seeing the children face to face.
I was thinking of looking into doing zoom classes but I again understand with this age group it's very hard to commit to each week and these sessions would have to work on a pay in advance basis, which again within these unsettling times maybe tough for some families.
I am not and don't want to give up on the classes I've worked so hard to build up since 2011, it's just a waiting game as and when I can get back into the church hall and nurseries to resume classes, because when I do I want it to be safe and long term not all this stop, start, stop, start as this can be unsettling for children as well.
Like you are all aware it has been an emotional rollercoaster over the past year and some days you are up and some days you are down, but it hit me very hard just before Christmas as I had no Christmas party to organise for the group and I felt worried about what was going to happen next with my classes. So I decided to not think about them until the New Year.
Now we are in the New Year things don't look any better especially now that we are back in lockdown and back to home schooling, but I'm doing my best to try and think positive and when I can, I will be back!
I hope all my Rock-a-tots community are well and keeping safe and if you want you can always replay the videos I've posted on the page throughout last year and work them into your weekly routine.
