𝘿𝙚𝙛𝙚𝙖𝙩 𝙤𝙣 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙙…
Springhead Spartans didn’t stop until the last minute today. Unfortunately we stopped about 15 minutes before then.
After finding ourselves 3-0 down at HT we took to the field 2nd half and leaped straight back into it. 2 quick goals from set pieces took us within touching distance. Before a scramble in the box saw Kai Jackson bring us back on level terms.
The sun, injuries, fitness levels finally got the better of us, at 5-3 we thought the game was dead but a Rocket from their No. 7 rounded off the scoring for them… (the VEO had stopped at that point).
Highlights to come soon.
Ps, I’ve seen the spelling mistake, cba to change it!🤷🏻♂️😂

It was a beautiful day for a game of football, on a big pitch off Cottingham Road.
GCGF encountered some challenges early on, with solid defense holding strong for the first 15 minutes. The first half was pretty even, although AFC Jones probably had the advantage by creating a few more chances. The game was a bit back and forth, but very stop-start. GCGF started to ramp up the pressure as Captain Fantastic made an impressive run up the field, but a mistimed pass in the buildup resulted in the boys in green getting punished.
As the game went on, we gained the upper hand when one of their players got sent off. However, shortly after, Ty’s frustration landed him on the sidelines for 10 minutes, but honestly, he looked like he could use a breather anyway.
GCGF was feeling pretty good heading into halftime after Ry Fenwick scored a free kick into the bottom left corner just before the whistle.
The second half was quite chaotic, with GCGF struggling to keep the flow going due to the constant stoppages. Kane also got sent to the bin after getting frustrated with a decision. Despite that, the game was still end to end, and when we were back to ten players, AFC Jones managed to score with a looping shot. Once we returned to 11, GCGF really pushed to get back into the game, but even with some late pressure, we couldn’t capitalize on what should have been a numerical advantage. Overall, it was a solid game, well played by AFC Jones. The Greens showed some improvement from last week, but there’s definitely still work to do!

This Sunday, we’re set to face AFC Jones once again in the Hull Charity League, and the anticipation is building. Our last encounter ended in a disappointing 9-0 defeat, a result that still stings for everyone involved. However, the team has taken this setback as an opportunity to regroup and refocus. With a stronger mindset and half the squad not away in Benidorm, the lads are determined to make amends and show what they’re truly capable of.
The atmosphere in games has been excellent, with players pushing each other to improve and refine their skills. The managers have been working hard to implement new strategies that will help us tackle AFC Jones more effectively this time around. The squad is looking sharp, and everyone is eager to get on the pitch and turn the tables on our opponents.
This game will see us continue to help raise money and awareness for the following charity’s. Bone cancer research trust

Hull charity league has raised a total of £1227 this has been raised by teams playing in this league and game by game the sum has gone up and we aim to make more.
This may be a football game. But at the heart it’s charity.
Here’s a look at how the squad is shaping up for Sunday’s game.
We’d love to see as many of you as possible come down and show your support for the boys. Let’s make this a match to remember!

Sunday’s match against Fat Dads at South Park was a true test of grit, determination, and resilience for GCGF FC. After a series of late dropouts, we started with just 11 players, but that didn’t stop us from putting up a fight!
We won the toss and opted to play with the wind, kicking off early to cope with the testing conditions. The first 10 minutes were a feeling-out process, with Fat Dads controlling possession. However, GCGF FC quickly found our rhythm and began moving the ball around, showing some lovely build-up play.
Around the 15-minute mark, our assistant manager made a dangerous run, breaking through only to clash with a defender and pick up what looked like a serious injury. Despite this setback, the team didn’t drop their heads. Will Wilson had a great chance but couldn’t quite capitalise, as the half became a fast-paced, end-to-end affair. We were using the wind to stretch the opposition and create space behind, with slick passing becoming a key feature of our play. HALF TIME 0-0 The second half brought even tougher conditions, with high winds testing our resolve. A blow came early in the half as winger-turned-striker Kai Jackson picked up an injury, but he showed incredible determination, playing through the pain. His persistence paid off when he assisted Will Wilson after a counter-attack, with Will tucking the ball home to give GCGF FC a 1-0 lead!
However, Fat Dads weren’t giving up without a fight. The wind had shifted, and they started piling on the pressure with relentless corners. After winning a penalty and converting it neatly to equalise, the game was all tied up at 1-1.
In what turned out to be the second-to-last action of the game, our right-back Liam Dolan made an incredible save to keep us level. Unfortunately, in the process, we conceded a penalty, and despite another valiant effort, Fat Dads tucked it away to seal the game 2-1.
It was a hard-fought match, and though the result wasn’t in our favour, GCGF FC showed tremendous spirit and unity. Well played, 🩵🤍🩷 #
