The Hull Regency dancers are based in East Hull. No need to bring a costume or a partner, we are open to all backgrounds and experience.
We meet weekly to practice and perform Playford, country dances and cotillions from the Regency era and earlier. If you are a fan of Jane Austen, Regency themed films and television programs, history or dancing then this could be the place for you! Here's a little snippet from one of our rehearsals, we're all very serious as we were concentrating so hard! Its a new dance for our program this year, ten points to the one who can name it!

Lighter nights mean that we get to see the reflections of the setting sun in the hall windows during rehearsals, which does mean that some of us are blinded on occasion depending on our position in the set!
Anyway, here are a dance group making Well Hall look particularly elegant - we're almost at this level! -

This is to be one of our new dances this year... 'Grimstock', as seen in the 1995 adaptation of Pride and Prejudice.

Hit and Miss, for some reason when I hear the name of this dance I always picture tennis! However the dance is nothing like tennis, its a sweet dance with two couple sets that has a verse and chorus pattern. Here are the Kaleidoscope Regency dancers performing it outdoors!

Sayings we often hear in our sessions from our leader: "Don't get too far apart!" "We have done this before, but not for a long time." (And for those of us who sometimes get a bit mixed up,) "No! Left!" And from some of the dancers (me included!) "I used to know this one!"
A mix of familiar and new dances were done tonight in preparation for a performance coming up on the 12th of February.
