Four KMBC members participated in the 2025 Bedale Whistlestop today, but unfortunately did not repeat their win from 2024.
However, a good time was had by all, with The Malzeads finishing middle of the pack of the 24 teams entered from the northern region.
The weather was fine and as usual, the Bedale Club put on a cracking spread of delicious savory and sweet goodies to keep us from fading away between the 5 rounds of play.
A fine day of bowls was had by all !!

Great night yesterday at the Kirkby Malzeard Bowls Club for our first internal competition, a Round Robin format for the Tattersall Cup!

Hard to beat good folk, great weather, and bowls...with a rainbow and bovine audience to top it all off!

Come out and give bowls a try: Sundays 2-4 or Mondays 6-8!

Well done to Kirkby Malzeard Bowls Club who put a team to compete in the Bedale Whistle Stop, one of 22 teams from throughout Yorkshire and the Northeast. “The Malzeds” won the completion today by a comfortable margin, with winnings being donated to club funds.

KMBC had a major achievement today - Grant Evans has progressed to the Yorkshire County Finals !!!

He won a hard fought match today (21-14). His opponent was a strong up and coming bowler, previously in the U25 division making it to the singles and pairs Finals in 2021 and 2018.

This was Grant's third win in the 4-wood Men's Singles, and he now advances as one of the final 3 players for Yorkshire Zone 4, from an original field of 32 competitors.

Grant will next be representing KMBC at the Yorkshire Quarterfinals on 7 July - location TBA, but probably one of the York area clubs.

Please congratulate Grant on a great tournament so far, and for more wins to come!
