Rangers L- W Silva

A game of two halves!

The first half was a real battle, with the Rangers going head-to-head with Silva and, at times, looking the better team. Neither side could break the deadlock, but towards the end of the half we came under pressure. A lapse in concentration allowed Silva to take the lead.

At half time, we spoke to the boys about keeping their play simple — pass, move and get ourselves back into the game. We knew some of the boys weren’t 100%, so we tried to make our changes tactically to suit the lads and keep everyone involved.

The second half started with the boys going out with their heads held high. We put Silva under pressure, but they pushed back and caught us on the counter. Unfortunately, we didn’t put enough pressure on their attackers and they managed to bag another goal.

We encouraged the boys to keep their heads up, go again and keep things simple. The next waves of attacks saw us pushing forward, and eventually something clicked.

Some lovely, simple one-two passing through midfield opened Silva up and handed our striker the perfect opportunity to place the ball into the back of the net. ⚽️

Unfortunately, Silva countered again and, once again, we didn’t press their attackers quickly enough. They took their chance well and put themselves further ahead.

To be fair to the boys, they never stopped trying right until the final whistle. It was just too late to get ourselves back into the game.

There are definitely positives to take away from today, but there are also things we need to work on and get out of the habit of doing. But that’s grassroots football! We learn, we improve and we go again. 💪⚽️

🧤 Max – Again a real contender for Man of the Match. Pulled off some fantastic saves and his distribution and decision-making were spot on.

💪 Oscar – Strong challenges throughout the game and you can see the work he’s putting into his passing, producing some lovely through balls.

⚽️ Zachary – Great stand-up play, his kick-ins were excellent and he kept fighting right until the end.

🔥 Grayson – Worked his socks off in the middle of the park and did an even better job when dropping into defence. Great to hear him using his voice and communicating with his teammates.

🏃 Alfie – Non-stop running and played a key part in the link-up play that led to our goal.

🛡️ Charlie – His kicking was much better today and he made some really important clearances.

⚡ Louie – Ran up and down the pitch all game, constantly trying to whip balls into the box and delivered some great corners.

💪 Fin-Jai – Still feeling poorly, but battled hard up top and kept trying to break through their defence.

🔥 Malachi – Played well again on the wing, helped cover centre midfield and was running all over the place for the team.

🏃 Olly – Worked incredibly hard down the wing, battled with the defenders and was key to the link-up play leading to our goal, picking up the assist.

⚽️ Layton – Wasn’t feeling 100% today but that didn’t stop him causing problems for the opposition and getting himself another goal. Great determination!

A massive shoutout to The Swan, Mansfield!!!

Thanks to Jamie and the amazing team at The Swan, we entered their grassroots football competition and were fortunate enough to come away as winners!

Thanks to their incredible generosity, we were rewarded with an amazing sum of money. Anyone involved in grassroots football knows just how difficult it can be to raise funds for teams, so having a local business that puts so much back into the community really does mean the world to us.

We’ve put the funds to fantastic use. We’ve been able to purchase new training zipper tops not only for our Rangers team, but also for our Saturday football team, Quarrydale United Raiders.

On top of that, the boys have received new training equipment, and we’ve now been able to enter them into the Filey Tournament 2027! 🌊⚽️🏆

This is exactly what grassroots football is all about — local businesses supporting local teams and helping give young players opportunities and memories they’ll hopefully never forget.

RANGERS V RAVENSHEAD REDS
Rangers W-L Ravenshead Reds

What a game! One of those matches that genuinely could have gone either way, with 50/50 battles all over the pitch and not one of our lads giving up for the full game. 💪⚽️

From the get-go, the boys went straight at Ravenshead, putting pressure on their defence and making them work. For the first 12 minutes, it was 0-0, with both teams battling hard.

We were awarded a corner and made some changes at the same time…

BOOM! GOAL! ⚽️🔥

The boys were playing some really nice football, with great link-up play, passing and movement. We were peppering their goal, but their keeper was absolutely on fire and kept us at bay.

When Ravenshead came forward, they were met by an equally brilliant Max, who was putting his body on the line and making some fantastic saves. 🧤🔥

HALF TIME

We warned the boys that Ravenshead would come back out looking for the equaliser. Our message was simple: keep playing our football, just like we had been doing.

Second half and, just as we predicted, Ravenshead started overloading our defence and counter-attacking.

Fair play to every single one of our boys — our midfielders and even our strikers were dropping back to help defend. Everyone was putting in a shift.

Eventually, though, the Ravenshead pressure paid off and they found the equaliser. 🙈

We told the boys to keep their heads up and go again.

Changes were made, we put the pressure straight back onto them and…

IT PAID OFF! ⚽️🔥

A well-taken goal put us back in front.

With Ravenshead pushing three up top, we had to park the bus, going three at the back and making sure we stayed organised.

And what a decision that proved to be.

The boys dug deep, defended for their lives and Max pulled off some amazing one-on-one saves to keep us ahead. 🧤👏

We held them at bay right through to the final whistle and secured the result the boys well and truly deserved! 🏆

GRAYSON

The enforcer doing what he does best — bossing the middle of the park! 💪 Even dropped into defence when needed to help us put our wall up.

Like lightning wherever we put him! Great battles, great fitness and something we’ve been working on — some really good distribution today.

CHARLIE

A brick wall at the back! Created options for our midfield and even managed to get himself a couple of chances going forward.

LOUIE

Battled away on the wing, sometimes against two players, but kept winning his duels. Whipped some great balls into dangerous areas and made some excellent challenges.

FIN-JAI

Made some great runs and created some really good chances on goal. A real nuisance for their defence once again and deservedly got himself an assist. 👏

MALACHI

Beast mode! 💪 Didn’t stop all game, battled against every player they threw at him and got himself an assist.

OLLY

Great running down the wing and kept his composure under pressure. Let his football do the talking and put in some great link-up play.

LAYTON

A lad on a mission! Whether he was putting pressure on the opposition defence, creating attacks or helping his teammates defend, he was absolutely everywhere. What a shift! 👏

⚽️ AND WE’RE FINALLY BACK IN ACTION! ⚽️

Beaufort Whites W-L Rangers

After a long summer break, the Rangers were finally back on the pitch for the first game of the new season — and what a performance from the lads! ❤️💙

We went into the game with players injured, sick and away on holiday, but that didn’t stop our boys from taking the game to Beaufort from the very first whistle.

The Rangers were playing some lovely football, linking up brilliantly and hunting in numbers. It was like they had never been away! 👏

Having been promoted to a higher league, the boys showed today that they absolutely belong there.

We went 1–0 down, but the lads kept pushing and were rewarded after a well-worked corner eventually found its way into the back of the net — even if it did come off the backside! 😂⚽️

Just before half time, Beaufort managed to regain the lead with a fortunate deflection.

The second half saw just as much action, with chances at both ends, great saves from both goalkeepers and plenty of missed opportunities. We even had a penalty disallowed, along with several handballs that we felt should have gone our way… but that’s grassroots football for you! 😂

I can hand on heart say the boys didn’t deserve to lose this game, but more importantly, I couldn’t be happier with the performance of every single lad who stepped onto that pitch today.

#2 Oscar – Played his socks off at the back, making some crucial tackles and playing some lovely passes down the wing.

#3 Zachary – Ran his socks off all game, always finding himself in the right place at the right time to stop shots and crosses.

#4 Grayson – The enforcer was back! 💪 Winning around 90% of everything in the middle of the park. Even when it was two against one, he somehow still came away with the ball! Also had some chances on goal.

#7 Louie – Ran up and down that wing all game long, whipping balls into the box for fun and battling for everything. Right at the end, he produced a brilliant free kick from near the halfway line, lobbing the goalkeeper and rattling the crossbar! 😱

#8 Fin-Jai – Played left midfield and up front, getting stuck into every battle, making some great passes and producing a fantastic assist from the corner for our goal. 👏

#9 Malachi – Played in goal during the first half and made some great saves while also distributing the ball well. Moved into midfield for the second half and didn’t stop running, constantly putting his body on the line.

#10 Olly – Played left midfield in the first half and caused plenty of problems down that side with some great link-up play. Moved into goal for the second half and pulled off some brilliant saves — even putting his head in the way to stop a goal! 🧤👏

#11 Layton – He was absolutely on fire today! 🔥 Didn’t give the Beaufort defence or midfield a minute’s peace. Pressed from the front, worked back to help in midfield, showed great footwork and link-up play, and got himself on the scoresheet after sticking his backside out! 😂⚽️

A tough result, but an outstanding performance from the Rangers.

We’ve stepped up into a higher league and today the boys showed exactly why they deserve to be there.

Keep playing like that and the results will come! 💪

🏆⚽️ The boys have been busy during the off-season! ⚽️🏆

With fitness training, friendly matches and tournaments keeping them busy, this weekend the Rangers travelled to the Meden Vale Tournament to test themselves against some very tough opposition.

As one of the lower-division teams in the competition, we knew it would be a challenge. The boys came up against Division 2, Division 1 and even Premier Division opposition, but they showed incredible determination, quality and teamwork throughout the day.

Reaching the Championship Final was a fantastic achievement, and although we narrowly lost 1–0, we couldn’t be prouder of every single one of them. They gave absolutely everything and proved they can compete with anyone.

The tournament also gave the boys the opportunity to wear their brand-new home kit for the first time, kindly sponsored by Romo, thanks to our goalkeeper Max’s dad, Dave, for making it happen.

A huge thank you to Romo and Dave for your fantastic support of the team. ❤️

There’s still plenty of hard work ahead as we continue preparing for the new season, but the future is looking bright. To top it all off, the boys have earned promotion to Division 4! Every season this team continues to improve, develop and achieve more, and we’re incredibly proud of their progress.

Well done, Rangers! Keep working hard, keep believing, and let’s make this season another one to remember.

What a special day the Rangers had yesterday! 💙

As many of you know, grassroots football is built on volunteers. Equipment, tournament fees, team days out, presents and so much more are often paid for using what little is left from subs, with coaches regularly dipping into their own pockets to make sure the children don’t miss out.

When it comes to new kits each season, we also rely on the generosity of local businesses to sponsor our teams. A full kit can cost anywhere between £400–£600, depending on squad size, so finding companies that are able to support us isn’t always easy.

That’s why we want to say a massive thank you to Jamie and everyone at The Swan, Mansfield. Thanks to them, and to all of the customers who supported the venue by watching the England games there, not only did our Rangers team receive a fantastic donation, but two other grassroots teams also benefited.

Your generosity will make a huge difference to our players as we head into the new season, and we honestly can’t thank you enough. The boys and their families had an amazing evening, and it’s a memory they won’t forget. ❤️

Well, the 25/26 season has officially come to an end… ❤️💙⚽

What a season it’s been for the Rangers boys!

We were placed in a higher division than we expected at the start of the season, but the boys certainly didn’t look out of place—in fact, quite the opposite.

We finished 3rd in the Winter League, narrowly missing out on promotion after a few mixed results and with the weather certainly not helping at times!

Then came the Spring League, and our boys were on fire. Alongside our league fixtures, we were also competing in the cup, and the team remained unbeaten right until the final league game of the season. Unfortunately, we missed out on promotion by just one point, and after reaching the cup final, we were heartbreakingly beaten by a single goal. 😢

The progress and development every single player has shown this season has been incredible. Week after week they’ve continued to improve, and it’s been proven recently when we’ve played teams we faced last season—the difference in our performances and results shows just how far these boys have come.

I’d like to say a massive thank you to my assistant coaches, Jamie and Fran, who are always there to pick up the pieces when I’m not around. They’ve been by my side all season and have played a huge part in the boys’ football journey.

A big thank you also goes to all the parents who have supported the boys week in, week out, in every kind of weather, and who are always willing to help whenever needed.

And finally, the biggest thank you goes to the boys themselves. They make all the hard work and stress of running a team completely worthwhile. It’s been an absolute pleasure to be part of your football journey, and I can’t wait for the new season to begin!

A few words about each of the boys:

🧤 Max – This season he’s worked incredibly hard on his kicking and footwork. Goalkeeping isn’t for everyone, but Max makes it look effortless. At times he looks like he’s in his own little world, then suddenly pulls off a save with cat-like reflexes that most people would think was impossible.

🏆 Zachary – Returned to us this season with low confidence, but after just a few games it was like he’d never been away. He’s been a steady, consistent performer all season and a rock at the back—a true silent assassin.
🏆 Most Consistent Player 🏆

🏆 Grayson – One of the most polite and placid boys you’ll ever meet, but give him a football and you definitely don’t want to stand in his way! He bosses the midfield, fights for every ball and will play wherever the team needs him. A real enforcer.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
🏆 Parents’ Player of the Year 🏆

🏆 Charlie – Another rock in defence, but unlike Grayson, Charlie makes sure everyone knows he’s there! Whether it’s a crunching tackle or smashing the ball into the back of the net, he gives 100% every single game and wears his heart on his sleeve.
🏆 Manager’s Player of the Year 🏆

🏆 Louie – Our wing wizard who runs himself into the ground for the team. He creates more goals than he scores and isn’t afraid to put in a last-ditch tackle against much bigger players. His deliveries into the box have been the source of so many of our goals this season.
🏆 Players’ Player of the Year 🏆

⚽ Fin-Jai – A player who doesn’t quite realise how much potential he has. Super strong, super quick and chipped in with some important goals this season. He’ll happily play anywhere for the team, and when the game gets physical, he really stands up and shows what he’s capable of.

🏆 Malachi – The quietest member of the squad, and he’s perfectly happy that way! He’s grown massively in confidence this season through both training and matches. He never stops running, is always involved in attacks and has improved beyond belief.
🏆 Most Improved Player 🏆

⚽ Olly – Another versatile player who can play in several positions and isn’t afraid to shoot from anywhere. Most of his efforts nearly take the back of the net off, and if he isn’t scoring, he’s creating goals with his runs down the wing.

⚽ Layton – This was his first full season with us, and what a season it’s been! From attempted bicycle kicks to first-time finishes, his enthusiasm is infectious. He never stops running and always wants to be involved. Even when we try to give him a rest, he’s desperate to get back onto the pitch!

Sadly, we said goodbye to Vinnie and Lucas this season. 😢 We wish them both all the very best for the future, whether that’s in football or whatever path they choose to follow. 💙

We’re also delighted to welcome Oscar and Alfie to the Rangers football family. ❤️
