⭐ Players’ Player – Jasmine Horsepool
A brilliant debut from Jasmine! Her pace, strong tackles and determination really stood out, earning her the Players’ Player award. A very well-deserved recognition for her first game in an Ashfield shirt! 👏

⭐ Coaches’ Player – Laura Jordan
After 14 years away from rugby, Laura made her return to the pitch and what a comeback it was! She had a fantastic impact, particularly with her work getting up off the line, and put in a brilliant performance herself. 💪

⭐ Opposition Player – Massa Horsepool
Morley’s coaches recognised Massa for driving the ball forward and consistently making strong carries. A well-earned award from the opposition! 👏

🏉 Welcoming Our Newest Ashfield Ladies ❤️💙💛

A huge welcome to our debutants — Jasmine Horsepool, Molly Rawson and Chloe Townsend, who all pulled on the Ashfield shirt for the first time this weekend! 👏

We also had the brilliant Laura Jordan return to rugby after 14 years away — what a way to make your comeback! 🏉

To celebrate their first game and officially welcome them into the Ashfield family, each player was presented with a friendship bracelet. 💕 Here’s to many more games, memories and moments together! Welcome to the family, ladies! ❤️💙💛

🏉 MATCH REPORT | Morley Ladies RUFC vs Ashfield Ladies RUFC

Today we made the trip to Leeds to take on Morley Ladies RUFC in our first game of the 2026/27 season.

The scoreboard may have read Morley 104 – 0 Ashfield, but there is so much more to take from today than the final score.

15 Ashfield ladies and 2 supporting players from Hallamshire Ladies RUFC made the journey to Leeds, turning up ready to get stuck in and represent our club. We also had THREE players making their Ashfield debuts and one coming back after a 14 year year break— what a way to start their rugby journey with us! ❤️💛💙

From the first whistle, the girls worked hard, backed each other and never stopped trying. It was a tough afternoon against a strong Morley side, but nobody dropped their heads. Even when things got difficult, the team kept going, kept communicating and kept putting the effort in right until the final whistle.

For some of our players, it was their first competitive in months. For others, it was their first ever game in an Ashfield shirt. Regardless, every single player put their body on the line and played their hearts out.

There were plenty of things for us to learn from today, and that is exactly what a first game of the season is about. We’ll take those lessons, work on them and come back stronger.

A huge thank you to Morley Ladies RUFC for hosting us and for the game — and well done to our 17 players who travelled all the way to Leeds and gave absolutely everything. 👏

We’re delighted to officially announce our leadership team for the 2026/27 season! ❤️💙

Leading the way once again from the sidelines are Head Coach Tom Greasley and Assistant Coach Dick Dawson, who both continue in their roles from last season. Their experience, knowledge and commitment to Ashfield Ladies are invaluable and we’re delighted to have them guiding the team for another season.

On the pitch, Danii Poulter makes the move from last season’s Co-Vice Captain to Captain. Danii knows this team inside out and brings a wealth of experience, passion and leadership to the role.

Leonie Cruxon continues as Vice Captain, providing the same experience, calmness and commitment she brought to the role last season, while Kat Wood joins the leadership group as Co-Vice Captain, adding even more experience and knowledge to an already strong team.

Between them, Tom, Dickie, Danii, Leonie and Kat understand what this club is about, what this group is capable of and most importantly, what it means to pull on an Ashfield shirt. 💪

A fantastic mix of continuity, experience and fresh responsibility as we head into 2026/27.

The landlord and landlady of the Sunnydale confirmed that our ladies team Danii M Poulter & Leanne Reeves
Actually came 1st!

They were the fastest ladies to complete the course.

Ashfield Rugby Club is thrilled to confirm Greg Newbutt and Danii Poulter as our Club Captains for the 26–27 season.

Both players have been integral to Ashfield for many years, earning the respect of teammates, coaches, and supporters alike. Their leadership, passion, and unwavering commitment to our club will play a key role in shaping a successful and united season ahead.

With the 25/26 season done and us well under way into pre-season for 26/27. We just wanted to take the time to say a massive THANK YOU to our amazing Captain, Co-Vice Captains, and Coaches! 🏉👏

Their dedication, leadership and energy both on and off the pitch have made this season one to remember. Thank you for setting the standards, pushing us to be our best and keeping the team spirit alive all season.
