On Sunday, 21 June, Grandmaster Teh led an Instructor Refresher Course, bringing together the instructor team for an in-depth review of key aspects of Tukido training and teaching.
The course began with a renewed focus on the fundamental principles that underpin Tukido’s training methodology. Instructors revisited the structure and purpose of the art’s comprehensive warm-up routines, core-strength development exercises, and stretching techniques, reinforcing the importance of these foundations in building strength, flexibility, and long-term physical conditioning.
The session then moved on to a detailed examination of several striking techniques and sparring forms. Grandmaster Teh provided guidance on correct ex*****on, timing, and application, while also highlighting common mistakes and effective methods for teaching these skills to students of different experience levels.
Later in the day, the arrival of students provided an opportunity to extend the course into a live class environment. A regular training session was conducted, allowing the instructors to apply the concepts discussed earlier under the direct supervision of Grandmaster Teh. Throughout the class, he demonstrated how to identify and address common technical challenges, offering immediate feedback and sharing valuable insights into effective coaching and student development.
The refresher course provided an excellent opportunity for the instructor team to strengthen their technical knowledge, refine their teaching methods, and ensure that the high standards and traditions of Tukido continue to be maintained across all classes.
