We’re open, phew 😮‍💨

We’d like to say a huge thank you to our fast acting team at Stromness Swimming Pool, for assisting to get the pool up and running again so quickly. Of course, extended thanks to our ‘Out of Hours’ Building team and the contractors who were with us by 7am this morning.

I think it’s an appropriate time to introduce you to a very special member of our team…

Lisa Kirby is our Senior Duty Officer for Swimming Pools at Orkney Islands Council, her knowledge and expertise regarding pools is quite frankly remarkable. As a team, we would be lost without her and she really does deserve a shout out for her outstanding leadership, determination, and adaptivity over past months.

She has gone over and above at every level to ensure every group, user, and club gets a chance to be active in the pool, and we’re incredibly proud of our colleague.

We can’t forget all the fantastic lifeguards and staff at the facility too, we appreciate each and every one of you. The overtime, the training, the extra capacity; it’s not going unnoticed.

So we’d encourage you, if visiting our facility, please pass on your thanks to Lisa and the rest of the team, they really do deserve it!! A positive comment will go a really long way. Thanks for keeping everyone swimming this year 🏊‍♀️.

Unfortunately a fault at Stromness Swimming Pool was detected tonight therefore, we’ve had to close the pool early.

A team will be on site tomorrow morning to assist however, we will remain closed until further notice.

Please check for updates or give the team a phone before travelling to the pool.

🎈 Summer of Sport Inflatables 🎈

What fun the bairns have been having at our weekly, FREE, inflatables sessions.

Our new bouncy castle was a big hit today!! Here’s a few photos of some of the kids trying it out 😄.

We have one more session before the schools go back so come and join the fun next Sunday between 9-11am at KGS Games Hall ⭐️

Next week, Orkney Rugby Football Club will be delivering a 3 day rugby camp as part of our programme.

Join them on Tuesday 11th to Thursday 13th August on the KGS Sports Centre grass pitch at the following times:

Rookies (P1-3) - 9.30-10.30
Minis (P4-7) - 11.00-12.30
Seniors (S1-6) - 13.00-14.30

Huge thanks to Orkney Sailing Club, supported by Stromness Sailing Club and Holm Sailing Club, who delivered a 3 day Sailing Camp last week as part of our programme!

We're so grateful to the instructors and volunteers who made this happen. Well done to everyone who took part! 👏

We have had a fantastic 3 day summer camp as part of the Well done to all the participants and we hope to see you all on the water again soon! Maybe even for Kirkwall regatta tomorrow 🤔

We will be travelling to Stronsay next week to deliver a range of FREE activities for all!
