Lancaster & District Hockey Club

We are once again planning to host our senior 7-aside tournament, as part of Lancaster Hockey Festival, on Saturday 5th September, 10am - 5pm.

Following our merger last season we are looking at the feasibility of having a mens or mixed element as part of this year's tournament, so at this stage we are just asking teams to register their interest.

As always the tournament emphasis is on fun and inclusiveness. The entry will be £50 per team, with a maximum of 10 players per team.

We would also be looking for players from each team to support with the umpiring of some games and there will be the opportunity to receive some umpire coaching and tips ahead of the coming season.

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of former player Lou Verdon (née Winder/Kippen) following a brave battle with cancer.

Lou was the first-team captain for Morecambe & District Hockey Club in the 90s and studied mental health nursing at St Martins (Now UoC) from 1991-1995.

Many of you will remember Lou as a fantastic hockey player and dancer.

She went on to become a fabulous and committed mental health nurse.

She will be deeply missed.

The service of celebration for Lou will take place on Friday 17th July 2026 at 14.30 at Lancaster and Morecambe crematorium, Powder House Lane, Lancaster. LA2 6AD.

Please wear whatever you are comfortable in, and incorporate something pink in honour of Lou’s favourite colour. Family flowers only, donations to St John’s Hospice.

There will be a chance to share memories of Lou afterwards at Lancaster Cricket Club, Lune Road, Lancaster. LA1 5QU.

We are holding Open Training Sessions throughout August for both the men and ladies sections! These will be held on both Tuesdays and Thursday throughout August:

🏑 Tuesdays, 7-8pm at Lancaster University Astro Pitch.
🏑 Thursdays, 7-8pm at the University of Cumbria

Open to ages 14+ and we welcome all abilities.
