ππ LAST WEEKEND'S RESULTS ππ
1st XI β vs Burneside (Lost by 5 wickets)
A frustrating afternoon saw Westgate edged out despite a competitive total. On a wet pitch, Westgate loss the toss and were inserted- early damage left us reeling at 0β2, but Lewin Maladayβs composed 55 (5x4, 1x6) rebuilt the innings alongside useful contributions from Rory Briggs (16) and skipper Craig Buchanan (13). However, tight bowling β particularly from Philips (2-10) and Park (3-36) β meant we were restricted to 120.
Defending a modest total, Rangika Pinnala Don (3-40) led the fight with the ball, backed by disciplined spells from Illingworth and Buchanan. We reduced Burneside to 5 down, but key knocks from Philips (34) and Drumm (33*) guided them home. A strong effort in the field wasnβt quite enough to secure the win.
POTM - Lewin Maladay
2nd XI β vs Millom (Lost by 63 runs)
Westgate battled hard but fell short chasing 184. Chris Beales starred with the ball (3-40), supported by Andrew Nisbet (2-42), as Millom built their total around half-centuries from Armstrong (53) and Thompson (50).
In reply, captain Garry Tattersall led from the front with a solid 46, and John Lynch added 23, but regular wickets halted momentum. Robinsonβs 5-wicket haul put Millom firmly in control as we were bowled out for 120.
POTM - Chris Beales
3rd XI β vs Appleby Eden (Won by 84 runs)
A dominant all-round performance secured an excellent victory for the 3rd XI. After being put into bat, Joseph Conroy produced a superb unbeaten 81 (9x4, 4x6), anchoring the innings alongside useful lower-order support. Extras boosted the score to a strong 184.
The bowlers then took control, with Jack Abrahams leading the way (4-8) and excellent support from Ted Stoney (3-5) and Jack Green (3-30). Appleby Eden were dismissed for 100, sealing a convincing all-round win and a deserved 12 points.
POTM - Joseph Conroy
Thanks to all supporters and sponsors for their efforts

ππ FRIDAY NIGHT'S RESULT ππ
Westgate CC produced a dominant all-round display to secure a comfortable nine-wicket victory over Lancaster CC in their Northern Pyramid T20 clash at Cross Hill Park.
After losing the toss and being asked to field, Westgateβs bowlers quickly justified the decision. Lancaster struggled to build momentum, with only Ahmad Zarmalwal (16) and Charlie Swarbrick (15) offering brief resistance at the top. Rangika Pinnala Don was the standout performer, delivering an excellent spell of 3-11 from his four overs, consistently breaking partnerships. He was well supported by Lee Illingworth (2-26) and Jacob Vaughan (1-11), while sharp fielding contributed to three run-outs, further stalling Lancasterβs innings.
Despite a late unbeaten 15 from Luke Murray, Lancaster were bowled out for 95 in 17.1 overs, with extras (18) contributing significantly to their total as Westgate maintained control throughout.
In reply, Westgate made light work of the chase thanks to a superb unbeaten knock from Rory Briggs. After Andrew Hill fell early for 2, Briggs took command, striking 55 from just 33 balls, including nine fours and three sixes. He combined effectively with captain Craig Buchanan, who anchored the innings with a composed 30 not out.
The pair ensured there were no further setbacks, guiding Westgate to 99-1 in just 12 overs and sealing victory with plenty of time to spare.
Overall, it was a clinical performance from Westgate, highlighted by disciplined bowling, energetic fielding, and a commanding innings from Briggs that underpinned a comprehensive win.
POTM - Rory Briggs for his unbeaten 55 on his 21st birthday
Thanks to all the volunteers for helping out and our supporters and sponsors for making it a memorable evening

ππ SUNDAY'S RESULTS ππ
Westgate 1st XI won on Sunday with a commanding victory over Fleetwood 2nd XI in the Meyler Cup - progressing to the next round.
Batting first after winning the toss, Westgate posted an imposing 253-5 from their 40 overs. Craig Buchanan anchored the innings superbly with 67, well supported early by Andrew Hillβs fluent 51. After a brief middle-order wobble, Andrew Powers provided late acceleration with a blistering unbeaten 52 from just 27 balls, while Lee Illingworth added a steady 29*.
In reply, Fleetwood never fully threatened the target and were bowled out for 142. Captain Craig Buchanan starred with the ball, taking 5-32 in an excellent all-round performance. Andrew Hill chipped in with 2 wickets, sealing a comprehensive win for Westgate.
POTM - Skipper Craig Buchanan - 67 and 5/32
Meanwhile, Westgate 3rd XI also enjoyed success with a convincing win over Burneside 3rd XI.
After being put into bat, Westgate accumulated 164-4 from their 40 overs. Jack Abrahams carried his bat for a patient unbeaten 58, while Joseph Conroy matched him with a well-crafted 58 of his own. Their partnership rebuilt the innings after early wickets and laid the foundation for a competitive total.
Burnesideβs reply never got going as disciplined Westgate bowling kept them under constant pressure. Jake Lightfoot led the attack superbly, taking 4 wickets, with good support from Jack Edwards (2-14) and George Hill. Burneside were eventually dismissed for just 70. The 94-run victory capped a strong all-round day for Westgate sides.

ππSATURDAY'S RESULTS ROUNDUPππ
It was a day of mixed fortunes for Westgate CC as the 1st XI fell to defeat at Penrith, while the 2nd XI produced an impressive victory at Cross Hill Park.
At Tynefield Park, the 1st XI were asked to field after Penrith elected to bat and made steady progress, led by George Willan (66) and Sam Sharp (59).
Westgate fought back well, with Zak Buchanan outstanding as he claimed 6-58, supported by Lee Illingworth (2-44), restricting the hosts to 219 all out.
In reply, Westgate never fully gained momentum. Early wickets left them under pressure, and despite a solid contribution from Rory Briggs (27), regular losses halted any chase.
Sam Sharp was the standout with the ball for Penrith, taking 3-32, while Greg Hall chipped in with 4-41. Westgate were eventually dismissed for 131, falling 88 runs short.
POTM - Zak Buchanan - 6/58
However, there was much better news for the 2nd XI, who secured a convincing win over Kirkby in Furness. A disciplined bowling effort saw the visitors bowled out for 162 - a well-shared contribution across the bowling unit.
The chase was dominated by an outstanding counter attacking innings from Steven Fisher Jr, who struck 94 from 79 balls, well supported by skipper Garry Tattersall with 46. Their partnership of around 140 ensured Westgate reached 163-2 in just 27.3 overs, sealing a comfortable 8-wicket victory which ultimately, saw them qualify for the quarter finals.
POTM - Steven Fisher 94 - His maiden 50 for the club falling agonisingly short of his first 100.
Overall, a challenging afternoon for the 1st XI, but a strong and encouraging performance from the 2nd XI to round off the day.
Thanks go out to all our team and player sponsors for their support, as always
