It was great to meet Ben today as he and our good regular, Rob, stopped by on a two day mini bikepacking adventure across the N. Yorks Dales. Both were riding some very nicely spec’d bikes. Wishing them both a fun time and safe ride 🚴‍♂️🚴👌🏻😎

I was lucky to have Dom stop by today on his 10 day ride of the length of the country from Lands End to John O Groats . He is cycling in memory of his grandma, Rita, and to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society. Already a seasoned adventurer covering some amazing rides with his dad, Dom was excited that tomorrow his Dad was joining him for the rest of the journey. He was young, experienced and enjoying the slightly cooler weather of the N. Yorkshire Dales after suffering heat exhaustion in the first few days riding through Cornwall and Devon. We are supporting him and you can too https://www.justgiving.com/page/dom-and-rob-lejog?utm_medium=FR&utm_source=CL

Next we welcomed on a charity Way of the Roses 3 day ride. Led by Lee in memory of his late father and raising awareness and money for he was joined by Kate, Ian, Jo, Ally & Fiona. They were all super relaxed as they arrived at the busiest time of the day. We wish them all the best and join us in sponsoring their efforts for this amazing challenge - https://www.justgiving.com/page/coast2coast4pcuk

This was the first of our Way of the Roses groups through today. They are Kaine, Allan, Keith, Steve & Jonathan (support/directeur sportif) all from E. Yorks and cycling friends bonded by “camaraderie, friendship and love” (their words!). After an interesting hotel stay in Morecambe (ask them for more details!!), they were making their way across the route in 3 days and we wish them a safe and happy ride 🚴‍♂️🚴🚴‍♂️🚴🚐😎

Believe it or not, this is Alan (Gordon) Bennett. Yes really, and he was in Clapham today. Okay, obviously not the Alan Bennett, famous playwright and part-time resident of our village, but he was certainly an interesting gentleman to chat to. I first met Alan a few days ago on my ride home and invited him down for a cup of tea and a chat. He is staying in the area and is from Crewe. He was riding a beautiful custom built George Longstaff bike. When asked why he rides his bike, Alan answered, “because I discovered cycling as a youngster and it gave me freedom”. And since then he has been a life long cyclist. If you see Alan on the lanes this next week be sure to stop and say hello to him. 🚴‍♂️ 👌🏻

Martin from Lincolnshire, is our first ever cyclist doing the Way of the Roses ride on a . Chatting to him, it soon emerged he is a seasoned tourer with lots of great adventures under his belt. His quote of the day was “Everyone should try a ride/tour”… we wholeheartedly agree, give it a go, even if it’s just a one nighter for starters 🚴‍♂️😎👌🏻

Let me introduce you to Linda, Donna and Meg, who are all from Auckland, NZ. They are on a 4 week adventure throughout the UK, meandering from London to Edinburgh . They described themselves as happy go lucky keen cyclists, living by their saying of “All who wander are not lost”…, well they did admit that sometimes they are very lost. I could definitely learn a thing or two from their super light setup for the 4 week trip👌🏻🚴‍♀️🚴‍♂️🚴 🇳🇿

So, here we have, Luke, Mike and Ian from the Garstang warriors. They are 3 wannabes on a regular ride in preparation for a trip to the Alps in October. It was great to see them at the shop just as I was opening and enjoying the summer sun 🌞 🚴‍♂️🚴🚴‍♂️😎

This is Jess from Hackney, London. She is on a 3 day Way of the Roses ride, carrying out a “recce” pre taking 8 woman on the route in September. She is an ‘Adventure cyclist’ aiming to encourage more women to enjoy travelling by bike. It was great to meet her and we can’t wait to welcome her back in September. 🚴‍♀️😎👌🏻
