🚨🗞️Sunday Round Up 🗞️🚨

💛U14 Golds v Larkhall
Larkhall 0 - 3 Largs
A physical affair against Larkhall - which the girls dealt with brilliantly. They kept to their task and kept on pushing. A small park lead to some crowding at times but the girls used their passing and wide channels to create changes. 1-0 up at half time with Ailidh unlucky not to have been awarded a penalty too. Second half saw 2 more goals to the good and a final 3-0 result. Everyone with plenty game time and Hard work again from all involved. Well done !
Special thanks to the parents for getting the girls out of their beds for an early kick off 👏

🩷U12 Pinks v U14 Pinks 🩷

A great run out today for both teams. The youngsters getting a close look at what the next step in their football journey looks like was a great lesson.
The U14s dominated for large parts and controlled the ball well and played some excellent football scoring some great goals.
The 12s stuck to the task and battled from start to finish being rewarded with a good goal for Lucy.

💛U12 Gold v Dean Thistle

Another strong performance today from the Golds who made Dean Thistle work much harder than their pre season match a few weeks ago.
All the girls contributed to some good passing football with Evelyn & Freya getting on the scoresheet.

💛U12 Gold v Ardeer

A second Gold side travelled to Ardeer and batted hard against strong opposition.
Arabella in goal making some great saves and showing good distribution with the ball. Maggie & Luci stood out from the crowd with their hard work and enthusiasm which resulted in Luci keeping her goal scoring streak alive.

💛 U10 Intra Club Match

A great run out for the girls this morning with lots of goals and touches on the ball. A number of girls were playing their first structured match and it was great to see so many starting their football journey.

💛🖤🗞️Friday Night 🗞️🖤💛

🩷U12 Pinks v Tass

The girls put in an excellent performance against a well matched Tass team last night.

The defence worked hard all game to put pressure on the attackers and some great saves from Grace B ensured they kept a clean sheet.

With the ball in attack it was nice to see the work at training on the theme of passing and receiving being put into practice in the game. Not panicking with ball, taking a touch out from their feet and looking for a pass to a teammate. This resulted in some lovely passes up the pitch through the defence and chances for the attackers which they took well.
The goals coming from Leah and two for Abbie R.

🚨🚨⚽️⚽️ Weekend Round Up ⚽️⚽️🚨🚨

💛U14 Golds v Clark Drive

Another positive outing for the u14 golds. Competed well against a Clark drive side who brought plenty of reinforcements. A close affair all morning with Largs doing well to string passes together. Great distribution from Hollie in goals and the back three in the first half allowed Largs to break away on a couple of occasions but then struggled to make it count. At half time the only difference in teams was Rubys right footed lob of the Clark drive goalie. 1-0 largs.
The second half saw Largs pressing the ball again with Macie making a number of fine saves in goal.
Largs managed to put the ball into dangerous locations a few times but never managed to covert.
A close fought 1 nil win to Largs.
3 wins from 3 post summer and more importantly Largs continue to play great passing football- always looking to involve team mates and support each other . Excellent.

🩷 U14 Pink v Kilwinning

Largs U14 pinks had a difficult away game to Kilwinning today. They started the brighter team and were unlucky to go down to a well taken goal by Kilwinning. They rallied round in the second half and got a well deserved equaliser. The game was finely balanced with both teams having chances. Kilwinning then dominated the latter stages of the match and went on to become worthy winners. Great all round performance from everyone and fine margins determined the outcome of the game.

💛 U12 Golds v Cumnock

A very impressive, composed performance by the Golds in Cumnock saw them play some excellent, controlled football.

Grace, while a spectator for large periods commanded her box well and played some excellent passes forward while springing to life when a save was needed to be made. She was very unlucky to concede with only 20 seconds left on the clock.

Robyn, Paige & Sophia were comfortable at the back, all making excellent blocks and interceptions. The most impressive part was the way they carried the ball forward when the time was right giving the midfield a chance to get forward and really pressure the Cumnock defence.

Indie, Rhiannan & Keira attacked well down the wing and put a lot of pressure on the fullbacks. Indie was rewarded with a great goal, much like last week with a powerful shot across the keeper from the right.

Freya ran tirelessly, helping attack and defence. Confidently taking the ball from the defenders, turning and running forward creating numerous chances.

Lucy & Nina upfront pressured the defence and found some great space. Both brought good saves from the impressive Cumnock Keeper and can count themselves unlucky not to have had a couple of goals each. Miller did get on the scoresheet with a superb finish from an Indie cut back that started from a quick Robyn throw.

We were inches away from a goal of the season contender when Robyn controlled the ball 25 yards out and smashed a shot off the post.

💛 U10 v Cambusdoon

The girls travelled down to deepest darkest Ayrshire this morning to play Cambusdoon.

The girls started slowly again and found themselves a goal behind but woke up quickly and Emily got her first goal of the game with a well timed finish.

Arwen, Robyn and Isla were doing well in defence and getting the ball forward for the ‘youngsters’ to chase.

Cambusdoon scored again after Meredith made a couple of good saves.

Emily scored her second of the day after great work from Eve coming from midfield.

Emily got her third with a well taken finish.

The girls had some more good chances and Ailidh and Aspen were unlucky not to score.

Eve then rounded off the game with another great strike to give the girls plenty to cheer about

⚽️⚽️Weekend Round Up⚽️⚽️

U14 Pinks 🩷

The Pinks restarted their league with an away game to Glenbuck. The home team started the brighter and took a well deserved 2-0 lead. Largs rallied round and pulled one back with both teams trading opportunities and goals with Glenbuck leading at half time. Largs seized early opportunities in the second half and deservedly took the lead for the first time with some great team work displays. Again both teams traded opportunities with both hitting the woodwork. Glenbuck scored late on to make it a nervous finish but Largs held on for a great victory.

U14 Golds💛

U14 Gold v Drumsagard Unity.
A lovely Sunday morning saw largs thistle girls u14 golds kick off the post summer season with a home fixture against Drumsagard unity.
Largs started well and played some great football with crisp passing leading to a number of first half chances. Unfortunately they could not convert any for the first 20 mins . Against the run of play Drumsagard went in front thanks to their striker chasing down a loose ball and the subsequent deflected clearance led to the first goal. Largs continued to play some of the best football we have seen and were rewarded with an equaliser from Caylin before halftime.
1-1 at half time.
Largs started the second half well but again their opponents had a chance against the run of play however Maisie pulled off a great save. Every Largs player continued to work hard and more great passing led to a deserved lead early in the second half.
Credit to all the players this drive for more continued leading to Hollie chasing down the opponents defence to get on the score sheet and Ailidh adding two more goals on top of Caylin’s 3rd.
Final score 6-1 thanks to a great effort, focused defending from the back line , non- stop work in midfield and (eventually 😉) some good finishing from the forward players.
A great display of football and resilience despite intitially going a goal down.

U12 Golds 💛

Well done to the girls (and parents) who made the early trek to East Kilbride this morning.

With a couple of late call offs, we had to draft in some reinforcements and emergency loans - thank you to Nina and Aspen for stepping in last minute 🙏🏼

Arabella performed well in goal, making some terrific saves and keeping a clean sheet 👏🏼

Maggie and Sofia Rose were solid in defence working well together and determined not to let anything pass them 💪🏼

Freya, Indie and Keira worked tirelessly in midfield linking the play well.

Ella put in a shift up front as always, pressing from the front and creating chances.

Hannah, Nina and Aspen battled hard for the team when called into action.

Indie ⚽️⚽️
Sofia Rose ⚽️

U12 Pinks 🩷

The Pinks narrowly lost out to the well matched Crosshouse in what was another great game between the two teams.

Abbie A, Abbie R & Leah linked up superb to lead the attack with all scoring.
Kayla & Sophie did a great job in the middle of the pitch, Sophie making herself available and getting into some great positions. Kayla continues to impress and really drives the girls up the pitch with her passing and dribbling.
Cora, Isabella & Grace K at fullback both defended well and helped the midfield in attack. Sophia & Lucy did well in the centre dealing with a number of high balls & through balls.
Paige played in a couple of different positions and chased everything and defended well.

Grace B was excellent in goals, making some great saves and her kicking from her hands was especially impressive.

The game was played in memory of young Molly Gilmours mother who sadly passed away last Saturday. Molly showed unbelievable strength and determination by playing in both games over the last 2 weekends and on Sunday was the standout in their defence.
After the minute silence we gave Molly a bouquet of flowers & a card from everyone at Largs Thistle Girls FC and send all our love and support to The Gilmour family & everyone at Crosshouse Girls Section at this heartbreaking time.

It’s moments like this that really put the world into perspective. 💔

It’s been a busy weekend for the Under 12s as they prepared for next weekends league fixtures by playing 5 games over 3 days.

On Friday the Pinks played a very strong, experienced Ardrossan side and made them work hard for the win. There was plenty to improve on but for a first real go at 9s for most of them it was a great starting point.

The Golds and the U10s (slightly mixed) put on a show at Barrfields with lots of goals scored which was great to see.

Today, one Gold team took on Dean Thistle at Inverclyde, they worked hard for each other and were unlucky not to score a goal when Sophie hit the post. Sophie was picked by the opposition coach as the player of the match for her hard work in midfield. Well done Sophie.

Away at Tass the other Golds played in a round robin with 3 other teams and again played some very good football. Well done to Luci McCue who scored a hat-trick 👏 and to Arabella who performed superbly in goal. Arabella keeps improving every week and her shot stopping today was excellent.

At Barrfields the Pinks ran out 4-3 winners against Crosshouse in a very even, entertaining game of football. There was an own goal from another superb Abbie Arnott cross, 2 for Cora who’s knack of getting into the right place in the box is becoming a huge asset. Lastly, a cracking finish from Kayla Cameron who was chosen by the Crosshouse coach as the player of the match for her hard work, enthusiasm to win the ball back and to drive the Pinks up the park. Well done Kayla.

Next weekend sees games on Friday evening again with the Pinks hosting Port Glasgow & the Golds taking on Ardeer. Sunday we return to league duties with the Pinks travelling to Crosshouse in a return of today’s friendly and the Golds head to East Kilbride
