🏏 Weekend Results 🏏

3️⃣ from 4️⃣ for the four Senior sides!

The First XI won at home to Wadebridge CC by 42 runs. Batting first, we struggled to put together any meaningful partnerships, but Thulina Dilshan made 92, along with Billy Uglow’s 22, helped us up to a total of 193. In reply, the visitors were well placed at 75-1, before the introduction of Adam Hodgson (3-20), Paul Smith (3-23) and Mark Taskis (3-33) reduced Wadebridge to 151 all out.

The Second XI won at neighbours Callington CC 2nds by 67 runs. Batting first and posting a healthy 249-8, George Rickard led the way with 58, and he was ably supported by Toby Ward (42), Jordan Duke (31) and Ben Jenkin (31). Jordan Duke then rounded off a fine all round display, returning figures of 3-35, with skipper Jason Seldon picking up 2-32 and Darren Webber 2-45.

The Third XI lost convincingly away at Liskeard CC by 150 runs. After losing the toss and being asked to field, the hosts made 218-7 from their 45 overs with Freddie Ward taking 3-33 and Tyler May 2-37. In reply, Dan Howgill was the only one to get going, as he made 20 in our disappointing 68 all out.

The Fourth XI won at home to St Austell CC 4ths. Winning the toss and electing the bat, Paul Miller made a match winning 103, with Henry Paynter making 37 and Rory Sachs 28. Henry Paynter then took 5-37 with the ball as we restricted the visitors to 165-7 to win by 83 runs.

2️⃣ Wins and 1️⃣ Tie this week!

The First XI continued their good form, by beating St Just CC at Cape Road by 7 wickets. Winning the toss and deciding to bowl, Sam Hockin took the first five wickets in an exceptional spell of opening bowling into the wind- he ended up with match winning figures of 6-44. In reply, Ben Smeeth (51) and John Moon (39) got us off to a solid start in an opening stand of 65 and Mark Gribble then made 33 in the run chase.

The Second XI were in the game of the weekend, as they Tied at home to table topping Wadebridge CC 2nds. Batting first, Ben Jenkin (39), Dan Jenkin (33) and George Rickard (28) all helped us reach a modest total of 213 all out. Sam Smeeth then led the way with the ball taking 4-15, and Rickard rounded of a decent all round game taking 3-32. Wadebridge required 9 to win from the final over bowled by Dan Jenkin, but they could only scamper a single off the final ball to leave the scores level.

The Third XI won a nail-biter at home to neighbours Callington CC 3rds by one wicket. Tom Petherick (5-28) and Tyler Jasper (3-13) were both in the wickets to help dismiss the visitors for 161. In reply, Dan Howgill led the way again with 46, and he was ably supported by Tyler May and Lee Houghton who both made 25 as we squeezed past the required total.

The Fourth XI lost away at Bude CC 2nds by 48 runs. Will Conway, Grace Kirby and Ralph Hodgson all took two wickets as the hosts reached 194-7. In reply, Rory Sachs made 26 and Jez Conway 22, but the run chase never got going and we were dismissed for 146.

✨ The Magic 4️⃣ from 4️⃣ this weekend! ✨

The First XI won comfortably at home to Helston CC by eight wickets. Losing the toss, and being asked to bowl first- Dan Barnard removed the top 5 batters on his way to a superb 5-26. Sam Hockin also picked up 2-41 as he mopped up the tail. In reply, Thulina Dilshan made his second 100 of the season, in a match defining third wicket stand of 176 with Ben Smeeth (71*).

The Second XI won away at Tintagel CC by 108 runs. Skipper Jason Seldon lost the toss and was asked to bat first. Rob May (29), Marley May (46) and Toby Ward (59) gave us a platform of 137-1, before Zander Zambuni hammered 64 off 54 balls, including five 4s and five 6s, to get us up to a total of 271-9. With the ball, skipper Seldon then took 3-25, supported by Darren Webber (2-26) and Sam Smeeth (2-44) to shoot the hosts out for 163.

The Third XI beat Newquay CC 2nds by 6 wickets. Sam Uglow took (2-27) and Tom Petherick (2-53) as the hosts posted 241-8 in their 45 overs. In reply, Tyler May made a run-a-ball 56 opening the innings, before Dan Howgill made a match winning 101 not out.

The Fourth XI won at home to Tintagel CC 2nds by 3 wickets. Nick Oldaker, playing for the first time with step-son Archie, took 5-35 as we restricted the visitors to 180-8. In reply, we were up against it at 60-5, but a match winning partnership between Grace Kirby (50*)- who made her maiden senior half century, and skipper Ian Wills (46) paved the way for victory. Earlier, Gav Wallis made 41 and Archie Palmer-Wise 22.
