We’re proud to announce that Sports Metals Ltd’s extracut-brush® has been shortlisted for the inaugural GroundsFest Innovation Awards 2026, announced by HortWeek.

Same kit, different pitch ⚽️

We’ve shown you our Brush attachment for the Toro ProCore working hard on golf courses, but it’s just as at home on a football pitch.

While the playing surface and demands may be different, the same principles apply. The brush is even sometimes used to stop the wheel marks showing up on Match of the Day.

From golf greens to football pitches, it’s great to see the same piece of kit delivering a quality job across different sporting grounds.

🏌🏻‍♂️ Richard has been out on the road again, this time visiting St Mellion golf course to see the Sports Metals brush attachment working with the TORO ProCore 648.

The Toro ProCore continues to do a great job across varying conditions, using the same aeration practices to help maintain healthy, high performing turf.

It’s always useful to see the kit working first hand on different courses and understand how it performs in different environments.

🌊 The Toro ProCore648 and Sports Metals Brush - a clever duo in action at Newquay golf Club.

We recently headed down to Newquay Golf Course to take a closer look at how the process works.

With the sand applied first and given time to dry in the sun, the solid tines then punch the sand down into the ground. The brush follows behind, helping to push the sand into the holes as the machine works its way across the surface.

It’s a clever set up that can help reduce the need for additional brushing and manpower - although it won’t eliminate it completely.

Great to see it working first hand and the results it can achieve.

As a family business, we don’t like seeing good materials go to waste ❌

We realised we were receiving lots of cardboard with deliveries, recycling it - then only to buy more packaging to send our own products out… It didn’t really make sense.

So, we thought, why not put that cardboard to good use?

We’ve invested in a machine that transforms our waste cardboard into shock absorbent packaging, giving it a second life while helping to reduce waste at the same time ✅

It’s a simple change, but one we’re really pleased with. Every little helps, and if we can reduce waste while protecting your orders, that’s a win all round.

🏌🏻‍♂️ We’re so happy to have supported the St Luke’s Hospice Golf Day by sponsoring the tricky Par 3 8th.

A huge thank you for letting us play a small part and congratulations for raising around ✨£2000✨ for the cause.

It’s always a privilege to support charities doing such important work in our local communities, and we’re delighted to have played a small part.

It was great to welcome Chris from Leicester City Football Club to Sports Metals while he was down in Cornwall visiting family 👍🏼

After a quick breakfast, we gave him a tour of our Sports Metals warehouse, conveniently located just off the A30, and the chance to see some of our latest products.

One of the highlights was our new 22mm solid tine for the ProCore, featuring a Dillenium tip to help deliver consistent, accurate hole depth every time.

Goodbye June and HELLO JULY! ☀️

We’ve been a little quiet on social media lately, but that’s only because there’s been plenty happening behind closed doors.

Our photo competition came to an end, with Windlesham Golf Club taking the win. Thanks to everyone who entered - the photos will help give our trade show stand a much needed refresh. We’ve also swapped the cream tea hamper for prizes from Padstow Brewery and our local brewery, Firebrand, so we hope our winners enjoy those!

We also completed testing of our new John Deere 2500 brush attachment, designed to work with larger grass boxes. A huge thank you to Lanhydrock Hotel and Golf Club for helping us develop and test the system. It’s going great 👍🏼

Behind the scenes, we’ve continued investing in the business too, adding a new electric lift to improve safety and make handling equipment much easier around the workshop. It joins our electric roller shutter door and 3D printer as we continue investing in technology that saves time and improves the way we work.

And finally, we’ve got two exciting new projects moving towards the prototype stage. They’re staying under wraps for now, but we’re looking forward to sharing more when the time is right.

July is already shaping up to be another busy month, so keep an eye on our socials for more updates ☺️
