We were absolutely delighted to meet activist Jo Bateman and documentary filmmaker Pip Piper at Montrose Playhouse last night.

Their film JO IN THE WATER had its Scottish premiere at the fantastic Montrose LandxSea Film Fest. It follows passionate sea swimmer turned reluctant activist Jo as she takes on one of the UK’s biggest water companies in a David-and-Goliath battle to protect UK waters from devastating sewage pollution.

Surfers Against Sewage’s most recent water quality report highlighted that 4.7 million hours of sewage was dumped into UK waters in 2024, and 23,498 sewage dumps pouring into Scottish waters for over 208,377 hours specifically.
It was frustrating to watch and hear the ongoing struggle to hold the water companies to account but also inspiring to learn about the ground swell movement of groups and individuals and their dogged determination to tackle the pollution of our waterways and seas.

BTW Jacquie’s arm is in a sling because she broke it 2 weeks ago tripping over a kerb (numpty). She’s out of action just now and will be back in the pool in the New Year. Craig will be filling the role of head coach/instructor in the meantime.

What do a swim coach, family celebrant, mortgage advisor, web designer, chiropractor, business advisor, IT Consultant, energy advisor, waste management consultant , fire/ safety consultant, digitalisation expert, MS Centre trustee and travel agent all have in common?
They all attended the FSB Scotland event at our studio this morning! 😁

Craig shared with the group our experiences of incorporating and improving energy efficiency measures in our Swim studio.
Then a tour of our Endless Pool followed by cup of tea and networking/chatting.
Big thanks to Lynn Joss at FSB for hosting this event.
We have benefited from FSB support since we opened in 2023 and love meeting other business owners in the Shire and Angus.

What a difference 90 minutes can make…..
R has her first triathlon in 4 weeks. After learning to swim front crawl in her local pool only a few months ago she came for a swim assessment and coaching this week to improve her technique- and boy did she manage that!!!
Right hand clip the current is 15 secs/100m faster than the left, initial video.

Jacquie worked with R on breath management, floating, drag reduction, whole body connection and better leg action.

R sent this wonderful email shortly after:
“Just wanted to message to say thanks so much for my swim coaching session this morning. I thoroughly enjoyed it and felt like I can build on the things you taught me. I have never been a strong swimmer, the most I learnt as a child was 25m at school, and collecting a brick from the bottom of the pool!! Learning to swim front crawl has been a struggle and I didn't think I would necessarily enjoy it, but I did today.
I'll see how the sprint tri goes and if I feel like I can do more, I would like to start working towards longer distance.
Thanks again, it was great.”

Pool open and back to lessons and coaching this week. 🥳
We had a wonderful summer break but weren’t completely idle!
After 8 hours online and 4 hours in pool training linked live with Tracey Bowman in the Swim Mastery Swim Studio in Brisbane we are delighted to now be SwimMastery Advanced Instructors!!! 👏 🏊‍♀️ 🇦🇺 This allows us to get even more technical with competitive swim coaching in all 4 strokes plus race skills.
The pool was emptied, deep cleaned and had a makeover with new coping.
Plus Jacquie is working on a new online booking system which will be up and running soon 🤞 💻 📆
