Cowie Thistle AFC 4-1 St Laurence FC

Saints got off the worst possible start after a free kick wasn’t dealt with properly, allowing the Cowie defender the chance to turn and finish in the box.

Saints came into the game after that and equalised around the half hour mark when a Jacob latched onto a Jiggy ball over the top before sending the keeper the wrong way with his finish.

Unfortunately this didn’t last long as 2 penalties in the next 15 minutes put Cowie the into the break in the ascendancy.

HT 3-1

The contest was over when the opposition winger finished well from the corner of the box 10 minutes into the second half.

Saints failed to put Cowie under much pressure later on, and did well to keep it at 4 after losing a man with 15 minutes left.

FT 4-1

A disappointing day, but one the boys will put behind them quickly with plenty left to play for this season.

Saints have a tough start to their Premier Trophy campaign with an away tie to cup holders Cowie.

After gaining a point last month in the league, the boys are looking to go one better this time.

Saints were on cup duty today in the first round of the Association Trophy where we faced HR Nicolls AFC

The game was an even start but nothing in front of goal. As soon as Saints got there foot on the ball we took control of the game. We took the lead after a Jacob Burgoyne header found its way through to Lewis Mitchell who chipped the keeper to make it 1-0. We soon had a second after a long throw in from Jacob Burgoyne was meet by Kyle Beattie to head home 2-0. Then we had a third, yet again a long though in from Jacob Burgoyne was finished off by George Sephton 3-0. Before half time we had a fourth, a ball into the box was finished off by Louie Craig for his first goal for the club after a scramble on the line 4-0

HT 4-0

We start the second half same way we finished the first half. Lewis Mitchell was in on goal but turned and laid the ball off to Josh Paton to finish well past the keeper 5-0.
Within a minute Josh Paton had two, he met a cross from Cameron Thomson and finished well 6-0. We were not finished there, we won a corner which Robbie Anderson took and was met by Joe Dalgarno to head home and make it 7-0

We had a number of other chance’s to make it more but we seen the game out and move into the next round.

The draw took place on Saturday the 5th of September, this was completed by the players at training

By entering the lottery, you are helping us raise much needed funds for St Laurence FC 💛 🖤
