What an exciting week for most of the team here at Upper Lighthorne FC! Starting their high school journey at some fantastic local schools in year 7 and don’t they all look AMAZING 💜🤍 We all wish you well and hope you achieve your dreams as teenagers 🥴

🟣⚪️🚨MATCH REPORT🚨🟣⚪️

Well today was to be expected. A higher tier of football meant that today was a learning curve to show the expectation from the game this season.

We started great. Full of energy and controlling the game but we lacked tactics and practice. However the lads did an amazing job to keep positive and continue through to the final whistle of the game.

They were tired, a little upset but should be immensely proud of what they did achieve. Max’s goal was a free kick and was a blinder to the back of the net!

So here it is! Season 24/25 and the sun is not shinning 😒 but this year it’s different! New season, new age group and new COMPETITIVE league 😱

This means every score counts as we are in a table, in a division and able to earn points!

So let’s kick off the season with our first match at our new home ground of Kineton High School against the mighty Coventry United in Division 3!

🟣⚪️ That’s A Wrap 🟣⚪️

Well what a tournament season we have had! We’ve been a bit quiet on here but that’s because we have been super busy focusing on back to back tournaments! And what a run we had!

I love a tournament as it gets the boys thinking differently with their style of football. Going back to 6 a side is always a struggle for these guys but they have given it their all.

Thank you to Khalsa FC, Tysoe United, HIllmorton Juniors FC and Central Ajax FC for hosting some of the best tournaments of the year! We won some and we lost some but finally it’s all done and we can focus on our first season in a official competitive league 🙌🏽

The whole sporting community will be saddened by the news that Rob Burrow has passed away today aged just 41. He was an incredible sportsman’s and an even better fund raiser for Motor Neurone Disease charities. His determination to raise awareness of his own awful struggles is something we can all be empowered by. What an incredible guy. Our thoughts and prayers are for his family, friends and all that knew him. R.I.P RB 💜🤍

⚪️🏆PRESENTATION NIGHT🏆🟣⚪️

Last night was our whole club presentation night and what a night it was! Tuck shop, disco and the most important part the awards!

Every player gets an award for their dedication, determination and attitude towards our club but we also have 4 special awards….

Parents player - FREDDY - “strong, friendly, does the job, great keeper, can save anything, cool under pressure” are just a snippet of what was said about Freddy.

Players player - FREDDY - “best friend, always happy, calm, lovely person, fantastic keeper, always on time, funny” again just a snippet of what was said about Freddy.

Most improved player - NED - when Ned started with us he was shy and didn’t really know where he wanted to play on the pitch. In a year he has become a strong centre back that the whole team trust and rely on. He has a great attitude and as the months have gone on he has become an important of the team.

Managers Player - HAMISH - Hamish is one of the nicest kids you’ll ever meet. Polite and well mannered, he always turns up to football whether it’s training or a match with a big smile on his face and his head ready for the session. He plays right wing with ease and battles and pushes himself every week.

All of the team have blown me away this year and could have easily won the manager’s player award. Now it’s time to have a good rest for 2 weeks before we start again.

A special thank you to Graham who has been a massive part of the team by being the linesman at every game. Two weeks ago he made the decision to ask to come on board as my assistant and I couldn’t be happier! Welcome to the madhouse Graham!

A big thank you to all the parents and carers of the club. I appreciate you getting the kids to me on time and helping with the nets, barrier and organisation of events.

A massive thank you to Mikey Perks. Without him none of this would be happening. He is an amazing club chairman, mentor, coach and friend. The whole of Upper Lighthorne FC is very grateful for all the time you put into this club.

#2023/2024

🟣⚪️ KHALSA TOURNAMENT 🟣⚪️

It was a beautiful day today for a tournament and we had a fantastic time at Khalsa FC’s tournament. We didn’t bring the trophy home but it was a great morning of football!

Now it’s 3 weeks off for our U11’s while they take their SAT’s and have a well deserved rest before we meet again to prepare for the next one!

We want to wish everyone in Year 6 starting their SAT’s tomorrow especially our amazing U11’s Spitfires 💜🤍 Just remember these tests don’t define you as little people. You are and always will be amazing to us at this football club! Now go smash it 👊🏽

Tournament season is here 🥳 and TOMORROW we are joining Khalsa FC for their tournament held at HARBURY RUGBY CLUB.
