📈 Can losing 20kg+ be the catalyst for improving every area of your life?

For Matthew, it was.

The funny thing is, the 20kg wasn’t the biggest win.

The biggest win was becoming a completely different person.

Someone full of confidence.

Someone who plans ahead instead of winging it.

Someone who trains even when he can’t be arsed.

Someone who keeps promises to himself.

Someone who now understands that success isn’t built through one big effort or an all or nothing approach.

It’s built through hundreds of small decisions made consistently.

The body fat came off.

Most people think performance is built in the big moments.

It isn’t.

It’s built in the moments nobody sees.

The alarm goes off at 5am.

Do you get up?

Your session is programmed.

Do you attack it or negotiate with yourself?

Your nutrition plan is there.

Do you follow it or tell yourself you will start again Monday?

The standards you hold when nobody is watching become the standards you rely on when everything is on the line.

❌ Everyone has that turning point in life where something has to change.

18 months ago I stopped drinking alcohol.

This pic was the last time I drank.

Drinking alcohol stopped becoming something I enjoyed and actually came at a cost.

It ruined my mental health.

It stopped me training for days after and doing what I loved.

And it just didn’t align with the person I wanted to become.

I’m not for one second saying drinking alcohol is a bad thing!

It just no longer appeals to me and the life I want to live.

People always ask “have you noticed a difference since stopping”.

Initially it felt like a small change.

But realistically since then, everything has changed dramatically.

And it’s been the best decision I have made.

I am a better dad.

I am a better business owner.

I handle day to day life stresses better.

My training has improved.

My recovery has improved.

My sleep has improved.

My focus has improved.

My energy and drive has improved.

My mental health has improved.

I realised I was chasing dopamine in all the wrong places.

Real dopamine is different.

For me happiness is seeing my girls achieve great things.

It’s being a family man.

Surrounding myself with good people.

Using fitness to be a positive role model.

You can’t buy that feeling.

You can’t fake it.

You have to earn it.

Chasing fake dopamine, temporary highs or materialistic things in life means absolutely nothing to me.

Being happy and living a life I enjoy means everything.

For me fitness holds me to a higher standard.

A better mindset.

A better life.

And it’s a life that gives me real satisfaction.

As I get older I genuinely enjoy the simple things in life and I’m happy with that.

That’s my dopamine hit. 😎
