Anjaneyasana, or low lunge, is the next asana in the sun salutation sequence. The variation I've adopted here is with crescent moon, lifting hands to the sky.β£
β£
I love this asana because of the opposite forces of rooting down to the ground, strong in the legs, creating a strong base, with the lifting of the upper body and arms. It especially seems fitting to raise your hands to the sky to show gratitude to the sun during this beautiful (though slightly uncomfortable) heatwave!β£ πβοΈ

As I took this I remembered I have a gnome in my garden, but I don't have time for retakes so here is me with my gnome at 8am this morning! β£
β£
I don't usually make it outside this early, but I just came back from a holiday with my daughter, where we were outside all day every day! There's something about getting that morning air in your lungs that just makes you feel GREAT!β£
β£
So no need to grab your yoga mat, just crack your door open, breathe it in, and I'm SURE you'll feel little bit of happiness to start your day!β£

So maybe we can't all start and end our days with the perfect beach view watching the sun rise above and set towards the sea.β£
β£
BUT we can all choose how we start and end our day. And a small habit can make such a difference to how we feel.β£
β£
I like to do yoga as soon as I get up. I drink a pint of water. I sit and eat breakfast with my daughter.β£
β£
I like to read a book before bed. I write my gratitude list. I'll do a couple of lazy stretches.β£
β£
None of these things I do everyday. I wish I did. I try, but sometimes I don't have the energy.β£
β£
But I can say that when I DO these little things, I can feel a little bit more positivity around me, I notice the things that I love about my life.β£
β£
What are your routines? Do you do something knowing it will bring you more joy? Could you add more to that list?

My classes this week focused on transitions. Transitioning between asanas, and focusing on our own transitions into the New Year.
Not the "New Year, New Me" hype, but as we should always be seeking to improve and develop ourselves, how will this look in 2023?
One of my aims is to improve my handstands. This photo looks pretty instagrammable, but the reality is that without wall support, my inversions are limited! And this is about more than just arm strength. This is also about dedication and determination to stay focused on this goal in order to have a chance of improving!
So why not take this opportunity to set a goal. No matter how big or small. Just make it personal, be dedicated to it, and watch as you transition into a levelled up version of you!
