A deeply emotional tribute from Kevin Nicholas to Rugby League legend John Kear. A cherished member of our Bulldogs family who will be missed beyond measure.

We are profoundly saddened by the sudden passing of Rugby League legend John Kear. A monumental figure in our sport and a cherished member of our Bulldogs family.

​John was integral to the Bulldogs' success, both on and off the field for a lot of years. We will all fondly remember our incredible 2016 Super 8s campaign, a historic run that rightfully earned him the Championship Coach of the Year award.

​Answering the club’s call for guidance, John returned to us late last year to lead the squad once again. A testament to his enduring loyalty and passion for the Bulldogs.

​We will deeply miss John’s commanding presence, his empathetic voice, and above all, his friendship.

​Our thoughts, prayers, and deepest condolences go out to his wife, Dawn, and the entire Kear family during this incredibly difficult time.

​We want everyone to enjoy the water, but to do it safely. Knowing basic water safety can save a life—maybe even your own.
