Happy Birthday to Sensei Richard! 🎉
Since helping out with teaching in 2022 and becoming a regular instructor in 2023, he's been a huge part of the club both on and off the mats.
Having hung up his gi and mitts back in 2014, he returned to teaching armed with a trusty second-hand gi. Over the years, however, it became difficult to tell which was ageing faster — the Sensei's hair or the gi itself. Both seemed to be getting greyer with every class! 😆
Thankfully, tonight we were able to solve at least one of those problems by presenting him with a brand-new bright white gi. Unfortunately, we're still working on the hair...
In true fashion, there was no birthday cake this year. Instead, we celebrated with a pork pie — a fitting tribute to a man who regularly arrives to teach carrying enough varieties of pie to open his own bakery.
Happy Birthday
Thanks for everything you do for the club. Have a fantastic day, and may your new gi stay white longer than the old one did! 🥋🥧

What a weekend for Chisana!
We took three competitors to Dundee, Scotland, to compete at the Scottish Open Championships, represent KKO GB. After an eventful start to the trip that resulted in an emergency hotel change on Friday night, the team showed great resilience and determination. Despite the challenges, the show went on as planned on Saturday—and what a performance it was!
🥇 Logan
• Inclusive Kata – Gold
• Inclusive Pairs Kata – Gold
• Inclusive Combat – Gold
🥇 Shelly
Veteran sanbon
Veteran ippon
Veteran sanbon Rotation team
🥈 Alfie
• Team Kumite – Silver
We couldn't be prouder of all three competitors. Their hard work, commitment, and attitude throughout the weekend were outstanding and were rewarded with some fantastic results.
A huge congratulations to Logan, Shelly, and Alfie for representing Chisana and KKO-GB so brilliantly. The future is looking very bright! 👏🏆🥋

A massive well done to everyone this evening .
The enthusiasm was absolutely incredible!
But a special shout-out has to go to Emie. Instead of sitting out on the sidelines watching her little brother she took a big step, joined right in, and crushed it! We are so, so proud of you. 🌟
Moments like this are exactly why we do what we do.

WE HAVE A NEW SHODAN
Abel originally took his Dan grading back in December, but things didn’t quite go to plan. Since then, he has come back stronger than ever, showing real determination, resilience, and commitment.
Abel has been with me from the very start, which makes this achievement even more special. This grading was a complete surprise to him, and he stepped up and proved exactly why he deserves to wear that black belt.
What makes me even more prouder is the way he now conducts himself on and off the mats
Abel always sets a great example to the other students, constantly helping others and taking the time to show techniques step by step. He has the patience, attitude, and leadership qualities that will make him an amazing coach one day.
Proud is an understatement.
Congratulations, Abel — well earned! 👏🔥

CONGRATULATIONS to everyone who stepped up for their kyu grading this evening!
The energy on the mats was incredible, but a special shout-out has to go to our beginners—you absolutely smashed it tonight! Stepping up for your very first grading takes serious courage, and your hard work and focus really showed.

Fridays kumite class
The atmosphere in the dojo was absolutely electric this evening and the effort from everyone on the mats was fantastic to see.
A massive well done to our little ones who have stepped up and decided they want to start competing!
