Holiday intake π½π·π₯πΊπ¦
A subject we can all relate to and I'm going to be transparent...
As you can see, variety was had. So it should be on holiday!
What was also had...
π Structure - 3 solid meals a day
π Portion control - simple nutrition/food item management centred around protein
π Intuitive eating - recognising when feeling fuller etc
π Hydration - a standard 2-3L of water with additional juices/coffees
Surely you had a drink?? Yes, I enjoyed 1 or 2 bevs a day (I can't hack much more than that π
) at meal times. Enough not to impact my energy, sleep or the next day.
My point is, intake can/will change on holiday but the π points can still remain and be followed whilst enjoying the variety on offer π½π·π₯πΊπ¦

A day well spent with the team! ππ
Morning workout smashed at HQ JD Gyms Leeds South with some weight getting shifted overhead and a testing WOD to finish ποΈββοΈπ₯΅
Then it was on to Yoga Hero for an amazing power flow yoga class lead by our very own .yoga π§‘π§ββοΈ
Brunch next and was the destination. I'm sure we'll be heading back there at some point ππ½
Finishing up at .bar for more quality catch up time and social with some bevs in the sun π»βοΈ
My biggest team member day yet and I can't wait for the next one! π«‘βοΈ

"Don't train fitness, you'll lose all your gains!" π«£
How times have changed...
Back when my sole focus was improving my physique through a bodybuilding approach to training and lifestyle π₯±
Strict this, strict that, back and bis, chest and tris, legs, cardio and 1 "cheat meal" a week. It was the only way I knew π€·ββοΈ
Don't get me wrong, the lifestyle had me grounded, which, at 19 was probably a good thing but I knew it wasn't the way I wanted to live my life or the relationship I wanted to have with the gym π
So I changed the game...
Push, pull, legs in isolation turned into explosive full body functional lifts ποΈββοΈ
No more steps on the stairmaster for "cardio", in came varied workouts every session at different intensities π
Bodyweight exercises still have their place but now I look to develop them towards more challenging movements π€ΈββοΈ
My food? Increased AND I'm no longer "on a diet" or "cut" towards a holiday. I eat to fuel what I'm doing every day, not just for a 8-12 week period π
As you can see, training for fitness turned out ok and resulted in gains made in more ways than one π§

Start with solid foundations π§±
1οΈβ£ Single ingredient foods - Foods that are natural or minimally processed. The best thing about these foods is, what you see is what you get! π―β

2οΈβ£ Protein - A macronutrient that most people are likely under-eating unless you're making an effort. Animal or plant based, just make sure you have an sufficient amount π₯©π±
3οΈβ£ Veggies - Mix it and eat the rainbow. Variety is key in general but green leafy veg is my go-to, rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and fiber, supporting overall health, boost the immune system, improve digestion, and reduce the risk of chronic diseases ππ₯¦
4οΈβ£Β Carbs - It's 2024, we know better than to avoid them by now especially the natural untouched type. Carb items include fruit, rice, grains and vegetables such as potatoes π₯π

The journey this man has been on over the past year has been incredible!
Jay started his Hyrox season this year in Glasgowπ΄σ §σ ’σ ³σ £σ ΄σ ΏπββοΈ (see previous April post) with a solid first time top 5% age category solo performance...
We then set our sights on the big London event with no expectation due to injury management, nevertheless Jay came out with a PB time, a third place podium finish 3/92 AND a ticket to the World Champs! βοΈπ
On the World Champ stage Jay demonstrated the same hard work pays off mentality and postive attitude he's applied throughout the year in training and in competition π«‘π
Another top example of the performance based results we are achieving within the team on programme βοΈπ

Invest time, money and effort in the things I believe in, the things I need help with, the things that will benefit not just me but those around me β¨οΈ
The mentors, the coaches, the physios and everything else that returns value over time π
That's what a good investment is, something that returns/grows in value over time π
