EMERGING ARTISTS CALL OUT!

South Square Gallery is pleased to offer an annual bursary to support an emerging, Yorkshire-based artist to create new work and exhibit in the gallery. Emerging artists who use paint as a prominent feature of their practice are invited to apply for an exhibition.

As a tribute to the memory of Joan Day, a highly skilled painter who lived and worked in the West Yorkshire region for much of her life, we offer this bursary to support an emerging artists who work with paint.

Emerging artists who use paint as a prominent feature of their practice are invited to apply for an exhibition in August 2024 with an opening event on Friday 2nd August. A bursary of £1000 will be awarded to assist with the costs of preparing and installing the work.

Full time students are not eligible however we welcome applications from final year students due to graduate. Artists must be based in Yorkshire and artists based in West Yorkshire will be prioritised.

To apply you will need to provide an artist statement (500 words or 1 minute audio recording) and between 3-5 examples of your work.

The deadline for applications is midnight on Friday 8th March 2024. Bursary applications will be judged by a panel and the decision will be shared with applicants no later than 15th March 2024.
