🌹 BIRTHDAY GIRL ROSE BUSH 🌹

For my birthday, my mum & my partner surprised me with 6 beautiful rose bushes. I love Rose's, they are just so pretty and remind me of one of my favourite childhood films The Little Mermaid 🧜‍♀️

They have been planted down a length of our track that doesn't have much to offer wildlife but it does now...

The 'Birthday Girl' rose is a floribunda bush that provides excellent wildlife benefits. Because it features semi-double blooms that open to reveal golden stamens, insects can easily access its pollen and nectar.

The open structure provides a great landing pad and food source for bees, butterflies, and hoverflies 🌹

The nectar and pollen attract beneficial predatory insects like ladybugs, which help protect by feeding on pests like aphids 🐞

The dense, thorny bushes offer secure nesting sites and protection, whilst the flowers that often develop into rose hips in the autumn, provide a vital source of winter food for the birds who live here 🐦

Everyone who visits will see them as they drive in and better still, we are giving back to nature and providing for the wildlife that live on the land with us 💚

Here she is making sure that the Water Buffet is nicely topped up with 6 tasty flavours for the MVT herd to enjoy 😍

This wonderful lady has been a massive help in the development of our track. She's been out there poo-picking & sh*t-slinging come rain or shine.
Even in the depths of winter, despite me saying...

"I can do it on my own today mum. Stay dry inside!"

..She never listened!!! Sadly, she hasn't been physically able to help on the track for a while now, and whilst the extra pair of hands has always been appreciated, It's not the help that I miss!

We've had some really good times on our track!
We started with just a poo scoop & wheelbarrow each. No fancy mat path that you see today. She's got stuck, lost a welly here n there, had a full barrow of poo tipped over by a horse or two but always with a smile on her face and a sparkle in her eye. We've had some proper belly laughing moments and on days when I've been struggling myself, she's motivated me and done her best to lighten the load the best she can.

She was the Chief Poo Picker of MVT - a title she owned with pride, and even though she doesn't say it, I know she really misses it. She misses being around the horses, the one's who gave her strength and healed her in ways only they can, and I know they miss her too!

Even though she potters about, doing what mums do, pretending she's fine, she's the type of person who needs a job, needs to do something & have a purpose!
If you think there's nothing to do, trust me, she will find something, and whatever it is she will do it with love so now, in between picking Thistles & Cleavers for the horses, she is now our Hostess with Mostess...

👑 The Water Buffet Queen of MVT 👑

Spending time with her over the last few weeks whilst she's been learning about all the different flavours and the benefits each one brings, I’ve come to realise that it's not about being the one that has never struggled, It's about being the one who never gives up despite the struggle. It's been hard seeing my mum change, not being able to help or fix her health but this lady right here is an inspiration, more than I ever realised she was and I am so proud to call her my mum ❤️

P.S. She doesn't like her photo being taken any more but thankfully she doesn't have Facebook so she won't see this!

If you bump into her, say nothing...Mums the Word 🤫
