In the past, low fat diets were recommended to help promote heart health however, more recent research shows that avoiding fat altogether is not required. Instead, paying attention to the types of fats we consume and where they come from is more important.

Try swapping out saturated fatty acids from processed meats, butter, ghee, coconut oil, cakes, biscuits etc. in favour of foods high in mono and poly-unsaturated fatty acids from oily fish, nuts, seeds, avocado, olive oil, sunflower oil etc. to keep blood lipids in check and offer cardioprotective effects.
