Saw a lot of people on Twitter and Instagram talking s**t about what Wemby did or didn’t do at the end of yesterday’s game.

First off, if it wasn’t for him, the Spurs probably aren’t even in that position to begin with.

I get that everyone wants to win, but it’s not like players go out there trying to make mistakes.

Second, that turnover is a basketball play you see all the time.

And honestly, I think that last shot is a good shot.

You’re talking about a player who knocks down that mid range consistently, and when you’re 7’4”, the level of contest matters a lot less than it does for everyone else.

If that shot drops, we’re probably having a completely different conversation today. People would be calling him clutch and talking about how special he is.

I also think a lot of people underestimated the Knicks after the OKC series.

But that’s sports. It’s always, “What have you done for me lately?”

One possession doesn’t suddenly change the fact that Wemby is the biggest reason the Spurs are even in this series.

Just my opinion though, let me know what you think 🤔👇

Most people think the goal is fat loss.

Or building muscle.

Or adding a few inches to their vertical.

But after working with hundreds of athletes and ex athletes, I’ve realised that’s rarely the real reason.

The real reason is identity.

Some guys are still competing.

Playing rec leagues.
Semi pro.
Even pro.

They want to keep improving and squeeze every bit of performance out of themselves.

Others haven’t played consistently in years.

Life happened.

Work got busy.

The injuries piled up.

The weight crept on.

And somewhere along the way they stopped feeling like the athlete they used to be.

The thing both groups have in common?

Neither wants to let go of that version of themselves.

One is trying to get it back.

The other is trying to hold onto it.

That’s what we do at APF.

We help people build strength, athleticism, confidence, and longevity so they can keep doing the things they love for as long as possible.

Not just look athletic.

Actually feel athletic.

Success leaves clues.

One of the biggest things you can do to improve, not just in basketball but in any sport, is watch film.

A lot of athletes think they need more time in the weight room. More strength work. More conditioning. And don’t get me wrong, that stuff matters.

It helps you produce force, stay resilient, reduce injury risk, and continue playing for years to come.

But if your goal is to become as good as possible at your sport, you have to spend time on the sport itself.

You have to practice the skill.

And you have to study people who do it better than you.

Watch them. Learn from them. Understand why they do what they do.

Looking back, I don’t think many coaches ever really explained the “why” behind certain moves when I was growing up.

No disrespect to any of my coaches. Over time I just figured things out through playing.

But I would have benefited massively from someone breaking down why you go between the legs, behind the back, or use certain counters in specific situations.

Because once you understand that basketball is largely about reading momentum and reacting to what the defender gives you, the game becomes much simpler.

Then something cool happens.

You start noticing patterns.

You begin to understand why great players make certain reads, why they attack certain angles, and why specific moves work at specific times.

If I were a young guard right now looking for someone to study, this guy would be high on my list.

He’s incredibly shifty. He reads momentum exceptionally well. He understands pace. He understands timing.

Guys like Kyrie do this at an elite level, and this player is right up there when it comes to passing the eyeball test.

Success leaves clues.

The review nobody asked for, but here it is lol.

Far from a unit myself but my god was this good

Two a day means you gotta treat yourself. One of the best sandwiches I’ve had in a while can’t lie.

Think my vertical might go up a few inches tonight. I’ll keep ya posted.

Everyone wants to jump higher.

Almost nobody trains the thing that’s actually holding them back.

This looks like jump training.

It’s not.

It’s yielding work & extensive plyo work.

Teaching your body how to land, brake, and absorb force instead of just producing it.

Building capacity, exploring range, improving movement confidence.

You don’t lose your explosiveness because you got older.

You lose it because your brakes got weaker.

Your knees start aching.

Landings feel heavier.

You stop attacking jumps at full speed.

You hold back without even realizing it.

Then you blame age.

It’s not age.

It’s undertrained athleticism.

Skater drops onto a box.

Zig zag broad jumps.

Low amplitude contacts.

None of it is about jumping higher today.

It’s about landing cleaner, controlling force better, and earning the right to be explosive again without your body falling apart every time you compete.

Build the brakes.

Then the engine comes back online.

If you want a list of exercises you should be doing, comment PLYOS and I’ll send them over.

You can ask me questions about it all anytime.

Shoutout to for keeping me on the straight and narrow.

Taking My Dad to His 70th Birthday Habs Game – Part 2 🍁🏒

I landed in Montreal on Tuesday, with the game set for Wednesday night.

The day itself was busy, but in the best way possible.

Started the morning with some work and managed to grab a free day pass at WeWork through Revolut.

Worth checking your own memberships and subscriptions because you might be surprised what perks are hiding in there.

Free workspace, free coffee, and a productive few hours before the fun started.

By late afternoon, me and the old man headed downtown to soak up the atmosphere.

The game wasn’t until 8pm, so we took our time wandering around the Bell Centre area, checking out the fan zone, and even managed to get a few photos with some former NHL players.

One of the more random highlights was a KFC setup where you could sit down with a Colonel Sanders lookalike. Definitely wasn’t expecting that.

A quick beer, some food, and then into the arena.

The result wasn’t exactly what we were hoping for. The Habs got smoked.

But honestly, it didn’t matter.

Being there together, experiencing an Eastern Conference Finals atmosphere, and sharing that moment is something I’ll remember forever.

Sometimes the score doesn’t matter.

The memories do.

And a quick shoutout to the girl who stopped us on the street and took some photos for us, then actually sent them over afterwards.

Small act of kindness, but much appreciated 🙌

Reminder to spend the money, say yes to the trip, and go make memories with friends and family 🙏

LeBron vs Wemby.

One has the greatest resume we’ve ever seen.

The other might have the highest ceiling we’ve ever seen.

Victor Wembanyama (through 3 seasons):

🏆 NBA Rookie of the Year
🏆 NBA Defensive Player of the Year
🏆 Youngest DPOY in NBA history
🏆 First unanimous DPOY in NBA history
🏆 3x NBA blocks leader
🏆 All NBA First Team
🏆 NBA All Defensive First Team
⭐ Multiple NBA All Star selections
📈 Already one of the most dominant defensive players ever at just 22 years old

LeBron James:

🏆 4x NBA Champion
🏆 4x NBA Finals MVP
🏆 4x NBA MVP
🏆 NBA Rookie of the Year
🏆 NBA Scoring Champion
🏆 NBA Assists Leader
🏆 NBA Cup Champion
🏆 NBA Cup MVP
🏆 21+ All NBA selections
🏆 6x All Defensive Team selections
⭐ 22x NBA All Star
⭐ 3x All Star Game MVP
🥇 3x Olympic Gold Medalist
👑 NBA all time leading scorer
👑 Most points in NBA history
👑 Most All NBA selections in NBA history
👑 Member of the NBA 75th Anniversary Team

So here’s the question…

If you were starting a franchise today:

Would you take LeBron, knowing you’re getting 20+ years of greatness, 4 championships, and arguably the greatest career ever?

Or would you take Wemby and bet on the possibility that his career ends up even better?

Let me know on the poll 👇

A lot of times from experience, I watch certain moves and realize most people don’t actually understand WHY high level players do what they do.

So this is just me breaking down what I see in real time and what’s going through my head watching the play.

Might help you, might not, but honestly I find this stuff fun. Let me know if you want more breakdowns like this.

First thing I noticed was the offensive player immediately catches the defender flat footed and slightly off balance.

Try this yourself. It’s REALLY hard to step backwards and then react to someone attacking downhill because you’re already giving up leverage and momentum.

Honestly, I’d almost rather defenders commit to forcing a side.

That’s what I tell younger players all the time. Force left, force right, whatever coverage you’re trying to give, but once you get caught in between, you’re in trouble.

And basketball at a high level is all momentum and leverage.

It’s understanding where someone’s body is moving, how they react, and how you counter that rhythm.

What he does really well here is immediately try to cut the defender off.

The second that happens, all that forward momentum creates separation.

He uses the arm well, which opens up the counter between the legs.

Could’ve been another counter there too, but this one was clean.

Then once the defender thinks he’s recovered, the step back forces another aggressive closeout.

Now the defender is reacting again.

Footwork is elite. Head goes up. Shot fake positioning is perfect. Defender bites. Easy finish.

High level basketball is rarely random. There’s usually a reason behind every movement.
