📣Client shout out📣

Phil came to me wanting to improve his golf game, specifically his driving and iron yardages. 

After three months of hard work Phil has increased his yardages all round by an average of 15 yards!! Which is absolutely amazing! His driver being the most impressive with a 20 yard increase over his average carry distance. 

This is how we did it- 

Starting out we focused on building the foundations of his overall stability and movement patterns while building up the weights safely, building strength and muscle in the specific muscles used in golf, preparing him for the more challenging exercises ahead! 

Once the foundations were in place from the hard work the weeks before, Phil was able to perform exercises competently with increased weight while focussing on the strength and power aspects of his program. Working at roughly 85-90% of his 1rm for low reps in some exercises, and some exercises we focused on speed and power while also working on his stability so he could control his swing better with his added extra power and strength. 
Phil’s training has been a challenge…..a challenge he has more than risen to as you can see in the clips above. 

Phil has been the perfect client, always committed and gives 110% every session as well as doing his own work in his own time.

Fitness fact

A pound of muscle and a pound of fat weighs the same on the scales, however the muscle is much denser than the fat. This means that the pound of fat will appear bigger than the muscle even though they weigh the same.

What does this mean for our training- well for example it means that if you are weights training as part of your workout routine to lose weight, then you may find that the scales aren’t moving how you would expect, this is can be down to the fact that you are losing body fat as well as building your muscles.

So instead of jumping on the scales you can take a few before and after pictures so you can visibly see the body changes in the two pictures.

WHY YOU SHOULD BE WEIGHT TRAINING 💪🏼🏋🏽

Contributes to weight loss- Weight training when done right provides the potential to burn a lot of calories. When performing an exercise that require a lot of muscle to work your body is then required to provide those muscle with energy needed to perform those exercises and that energy comes from the calories you eat. So shortly put the more muscle you have and use to perform an exercise the more energy(calories) you will use and burn through.

Increased strength- increasing strength can help improve many aspects of your daily life, for example it makes tasks such as carrying your shopping or doing the gardening that little bit easier. Or maybe you like your Sunday league football and you’ve found yourself getting pushed around you want to improve your athletic or sporting performance by improving your full body strength.

Decreased risk of injury- Strength training helps improve the strength, range of motion, and mobility of your muscles, ligaments, and tendons. This can help to strength around major joints like your knees, hips, and ankles to provide additional protection against injury.

Stronger bones- when weight training exercises put temporary stress on your bones, sending a message to bone-building cells to take action and rebuild bones stronger. Having strong bones reduces your risk of osteoporosis, fractures, and falls, this becomes more important as you age.

Improves posture- Being sat in one position all day like sitting at your computer contributes to the weakening of the stabilizer muscles in your torso, which play a major role in your posture. By regularly weight training you can improve the endurance of the muscles which contribute highly to good posture.
