The Dance Shoe Swap Shop

Thank you to everyone who has donated dance shoes so far. Just a reminder as to what we are collecting. We would love to launch the swap shop in September but need more pairs of dance shoes. 🙏

Edited to include some ballet shoes by request.

Inspired by a similar idea at my son’s football club, I have set up a secondhand dance shoe swap shop. For years I’ve spent hundreds of pounds on dance shoes some of which have only been used for one dance before they are outgrown.

I have decided to do this swap shop to help other parents reduce the costs of dance shoe shopping as well as helping the environment.

Here’s the idea:

For the next month or so I am just collecting old dance shoes to enable me to build up a stock and sort them into sizes and types. So if you could please check your wardrobes, cupboards and dance bags and I would be grateful for any donations of old dance shoes you have (that are still in good condition). Please pm me to arrange collection.

To start with I am taking:

Tap shoes
Jazz shoes - Black and Tan
Character shoes
New Yorkers
Ballet shoes - very good condition only. Preferably white and coloured. 

I have decided against pink and black ballet shoes as they are usually very well worn by the time they are outgrown and they are cheap enough to buy new.

All shoes will be £5 per pair and all of this money will go to St Gemmas Hospice, Leeds, who cared for my Dad in his final days.
