🏏🌟 CELEBRATING OUR JUNIORS! 🌟🏏

As we reach the halfway stage of the season, it is a great opportunity to reflect on the progress and achievements across our thriving junior section

Across all age groups, our young cricketers have shown tremendous enthusiasm, commitment and development. Our Tots continue to have great fun while developing their cricket skills and building a love for the game. Meanwhile, our U9s have made excellent progress, with outstanding training attendance and enthusiasm shown every week.

The U11 Colts have made great strides this season, with 10 of the squad's 12 players playing hardball cricket for the first time.. Whilst the U11 Cougars continue to make excellent progress, showing great commitment at training and growing confidence with every game.

The U13s and U15s have enjoyed a great start to the season, with all teams showing significant development. Many players have successfully stepped up an age group and have thrived in competitive matches.

U18s – Unbeaten and Flying High

The Under 18s have made an exceptional start to the campaign and currently remain unbeaten in the league. With nine league matches still to play and a cup tie ahead, they have put themselves in a strong position for the second half of the season.
Highlights include a commanding eight-wicket victory away at Shadwell and a thrilling last-ball win over Thackley. In that dramatic victory, George H returned figures of 3-15 before Max H struck the winning runs from the final delivery to secure a memorable one-wicket win. The squad continues to demonstrate excellent teamwork, commitment and resilience, with contributions coming from right across the group.

Overall, it has been a fantastic first half of the season!

🌟 REPRESENTATIVE HONOURS AND INDIVIDUAL ACHIEVEMENTS

Alongside the excellent progress being made across our junior teams, a number of players have also enjoyed outstanding individual success this season:

πŸ… Verity K – Selected for the Yorkshire U12 Girls Pathway Early Engagement Programme.

πŸ… Finn A – Selected for the U11 Taverners programme

πŸ… Harry J continues to enjoy an outstanding season, having scored 222 runs for the U15s at an average of 44 and has already represented the U14 Taverners, Saturday 3rd XI, Sunday 3rd XI and the 1st XI in the cup. His performances and contribution to the club have been exemplary.

πŸ… Liam K has represented the U15 Taverners in four matches and has helped his side reach the final on 14th June.

πŸ… George B has also impressed for the U15 Taverners with superb innings of 86 and 63 not out and joins Liam in the final. Good Luck Boys!

πŸ… Mia H made her senior debut for Calverley this season, becoming only the second female player in the club's history to play senior cricket. A fantastic milestone and a proud moment for both Mia and the club.

πŸ”₯ THE FIVE-FOR CLUB

An incredible achievement so far this season has been the number of junior players recording five-wicket hauls:

🏏 Max A– 5/12 for the Saturday 3rd XI
🏏 Alex A – 5/9 for the Sunday 3rd XI
🏏 Finn A – 5/2 including a hat-trick for the U13s
🏏 Will L – 5/4 for the Saturday 3rd XI
🏏 Evan S – 5/14 for the Sunday 3rd XI

Outstanding bowling performances and a testament to the talent coming through our junior ranks.

A huge thank you to all our coaches, parents and volunteers for their continued commitment and dedication. Your time, encouragement and hard work play a vital role in creating such a positive environment for our young players. πŸ‘

And finally a special mention goes to our junior sponsors, Panku Food and True You Skin Clinics , for their continued commitment to our junior section. Thank you. 🀩

The future of cricket at Calverley is looking incredibly bright, and we can't wait to see what the second half of the season brings.

A strong weekend for The Owls with some standout performances! πŸ¦‰πŸ

The 1st XI came up against a strong Olicanian side on Saturday, posting 289/6 from 50 overs before The Owls were bowled out for 192.

The 2nd XI produced an impressive chase against Harden, reaching 163/4 in just 30.3 overs after restricting the visitors to 157/8 from their 45, thanks to a strong spell from West (4/41). Strong batting performances from Goldsmith (45), McPhilimey & Verma (35) and A Alred (33) guided The Owls to a comfortable victory.

The Saturday 3rd XI delivered a dominant victory over Rodley, posting 188 thanks to an impressive 78 from Boden. Ruthless bowling from Livingstone (5/4) and Benson (4/3) meant that Rodley were bowled out for just 76.

On Sunday, the 3rd XI secured an excellent win after putting 228/8 on the board against Rawdon, before dismissing the visitors for 169. Strong batting from Westwood (79) and A Alred (44), as well as a 5 wicket haul from Singh (5/14)!
