This season, if you see a referee wearing a yellow armband, they are a child.

A young person brave enough to pick up a whistle, walk into the middle of a football pitch and make decisions in front of players, coaches and parents.

They won't get every decision right.

Neither will the players.
Neither will the coaches.
Neither will you.

So when you see that yellow armband:

Be patient.
Encourage them.
Protect them.
Let them learn.

Because that 15-year-old you support this weekend could become a referee for the next 30 years.

The one who gets shouted at, abused or humiliated?

They might put the whistle down on Sunday and never pick it up again.

We had an incredible night last night at West Riding FA Grassroots Awards Night. We were honoured to have been nominated for League of the Year! Unfortunately we didn't win this year, but a big congratulations to The West Riding Girls Football League who came away with the award.
As a complete surprise to us all, including her, our very own Rachel Turnbull came away with the Special Recognition Award for Safeguarding. We are incredible proud of all the work Rachel does with clubs, across the league and supporting country. We are thrilled she got the recognition for all the work she does! Rachel, you are a legend!

Finally the day we have all been waiting for, for what feels like forever! The 26/27 season starts today and what better way than with our brand new Saturday League! A Massive thank you to all the teams and clubs who have joined us in what's set to be a very exciting time for the league and clubs! Good luck to all!

Seasons coming quick and so with our new brand continuing to roll out, our brand new handbook is now available online with the 2026/27 regulations.
