🌧️A frustrating weekend 🌧️

The first XI picked up 1️⃣3️⃣points at home.

Having been asked to bat in damp conditions, on an albeit very good pitch. We made a solid start, with contributions from Mills & Dwyer helping us get to the 5 batting points before the rain came.

The Seconds fixture away to Ripley 3rds which was due to be played at Markington fell to weather due to an uncovered pitch.

Both teams unbeaten as we head into the 4th round of fixtures next weekend

Another double win weekend!!

The First XI made light work of thier trip to Burton Leonard. Bowling first we managed to restrict them to 168. Wickets in the middle overs slowed Burton's progress

A change at the top of the order saw Mike Malthouse open with Dexter. A positive start, soon put the pressure on them, Malthouse racing to 5️⃣0️⃣
D Ward went about his work accumulating runs and they passed the 💯mark with ease. When Malthouse finally fell for 73, Sivajoti joined Dexter in the middle and made light work of finishing the chase. Dexter finishing just short of a half century.

The second XI also made it two wins from two

Batting first it didnt start that well at 64-4. Runs from Hesketh, Bower and Marriott along with a wagging tail enusred a compeitive score was posted.

The second innings started like the first with our bowlers getting early wickets Ellis and Lucas blew away Walton top order. At 23-7, Marriott entered the attack to clean up the tail for a massive win.

The club are saddened to hear of the passing of former player Nick Young.

Known as “Butcher or Butch” Nick was a real character both on and off the field.

His infectious humor and antics have earned him a place in the club's folklore.

The Young family have a strong history with KDCC, with Nick's brother's Richard and Michael both playing alongside Nick at the club and cousin Dave is part of our junior coaching team. His dad Andy also played for the club.

Our thoughts and condolences go out to the whole Young family

🏏Week 1️⃣results🏏

A big winning start for both teams on the opening weekend.

The first XI posted a competitive score on a difficult track, lots of batters getting starts but no big scores. At halfway we felt it was competitive.
Early wickets from Tom & Rich Ward put Spofforth behind. Dexter Ward, blasted away the middle order before a lower wicket partnership frustrated us. Tom returned to get the final two wickets. Our young guns both returnign best senior cricket bowling figures, getting 8 wickets between them!

The seconds had an equally great start to the season. Tight bowling from Lucas and Ellis applied the pressure, before Laddie rolled back the years bagging 4 wickets. Alfie on debut picking up the final 2 wickets in one over.
With the bat, DK and Nick got us off to a good start, beofre the innings was finished off by Simon and Alfie

Great start to the summer, lots of good cricket played. Roll on next week!🏏
