A huge congratulations to our 3rd XI, who have secured promotion from Division 4 of the Halifax Cricket Sunday League! 🎉👏

Led brilliantly by Jonathan Victor, the team have delivered a fantastic season and achieved promotion at the first time of asking. 💪🏏

From the first ball of the season to the final result, the commitment, togetherness and performances from the whole squad have been outstanding.

11:30 starts have hit us now we’ve reached the month of September!

1st Xi host East Bierley at Leeds Road. Noah’s men look to do the league double over the lads from South View Road. Siraj out for Mistry the only change.

2nd Xi travel to Bowling Old Lane, Peters & Javed included. They look to gain a win to secure promotion to the Prem making it 2 promotions in 2 seasons. It won’t be light work as an inform Old Lane side will look to continue their good form.

Support welcomed home and away and let’s hope come 7pm theres reason to celebrate!

🏏 SENIOR MEN’S WEEKEND ROUND-UP 🏏

The 1st XI were beaten by the weather, but the 2nd XI made the most of the weekend with some outstanding performances, claiming the full 40 points from both matches.

1st XI

Before rain brought play to an early finish, Sandal had been reduced to 117/5. Waseem Liaqat claimed two wickets, with Cyrus, Siraj and Marlow each taking one.

2nd XI

The 2nd XI posted an imposing 318 against Sandal, led by excellent knocks from Adam Eustace (88_ and Nadir Khan (83). Skipper Alex Drake then starred with the ball, taking 6 wickets as Sandal were bowled out for just 66.

On Sunday, the game in hand went ahead despite the poor forecast. After losing the toss and being asked to field, Drake again led from the front, claiming his 6th five-wicket haul of the season.

He was well supported by Peters, Marlow and Gray as Hanging Heaton were dismissed for just 94. Chasing the total, Dan Chapman anchored the innings with an unbeaten 40, before Khan and Marlow helped secure a swift finish ahead of the rain.

A huge weekend for the 2nd XI!40 points secured.

As Sharoon heads back to Pakistan to continue his cricketing career in First Class cricket, we want to thank him for everything he has given to Birstall CC this season.
