It was an honour for us to perform for the residents of MHA Glen Rosa on Armed Forces Day 🫡
2527 (Lawnswood) Sqn offers 12-20 year olds the opportunity to take part in many exciting activities, from flying to shooting and adventure training.
The Air Training Corps also provides the opportunity to make friends and gain valuable skills and qualifications such as first aid, BTECs and the Duke of Edinburgh awards. We parade on a Monday and a Thursday from 1900-2115hrs. We usually welcome two intakes a year in September and January and also welcome any parents, carers and other adults who wish to join the staff team.

Bitter sweet news for 2527! 👋 🦓
A couple of weeks ago, during our Central & East Yorkshire Dinner, we said goodbye to our Flying Officer Laura Turner who has moved across the pennines to Cumbria & Lancashire Wing. She will be now 2IC of 352 Burnley Squadron going forwards, and we thank her for all the amazing contributions she has made to our squadron during her time - she will be sorely missed!
Before she left, Flying Officer Turner had the honour of promoting two of Lawnswoods cadets. Cadet Will Smith and Cadet Luca Dyal therefore received their stripes and were both promoted to the rank of Corporal - Congratulations to them both.

🦓 NEW STRIPES!!!
Congratulations to our new Cadet Warrant Officer Lucas Elwell!!!
Following the departure of CWO Oliver Hargrave due to him ageing out at 20, we are very proud to announce that we have a new CWO taking the reins.
On Monday, CWO Elwell underwent a vigorous interview process and was successful in achieving the highest rank a cadet can climb to in the RAFAC organisation.
Alongside his gliding experience with 645 VGS, Lucas brings a wealth of experience to the squadron. He's looking forward to taking on further management responsibilities and assisting with the development of our NCO team! 👏 🌟

PUTTING THE "AIR" INTO AIR CADETS! 🚁✈️
Yesterday on the 84th Birthday of the RAFAC, Flying Officer Laura Turner, Sergeant Laila Poddar, Flight Sergeant Ben Mcdonald and Flight Sergeant Lucas Elwell visited RAF Leeming and were given the experience of a lifetime!
27 Squadron from RAF Odiham came with their Chinook Helicopter giving an air experience flight to remember in the Chinook.
Afterwards, 11 Squadron QEAF Joint Hawk Squadron delivered a presentation of what the squadron does at RAF Leeming and how it trains future pilots on the Hawk T2. This was followed by a full tour of one of the Jets in the hangar. There was also a visit to Air Traffic Control and 642 ASTRA Ground School opened its doors to showcase the new facilities throughout the day.
What an experience and there were beaming smiles all round!

And then there was another one! 🦓
Congratulations to Corporal Poddar on achieving her third stripe and being promoted to Sergeant. Her dedication and leadership skills have made her stand out to the staff team, and she is the perfect role model to the more junior cadets.
Also Flight Sergeant Kendall and Cadet Zheng passed their exams and achieved their Master and Leading cadet badges respectively as they progress through the training syllabus - Congratulations to them! 👏

We have had a busy weekend with our squadron leading 2 Remembrance Parades; Saturday at Yarnbury Rugby Club and Sunday through Horsforth, but we wouldn't have it any other way... 🥀

On Thursday evening, Wing Commander Yeadon presented two very special awards to our own Cadet Warrant Officer Oliver Hargrave and our Flying Officer Laura Turner.
These awards were given by the recently exited Commandant Air Cadets himself Air Commodore Tony Keeling OBE and are only given out rarely to recognise exemplary meritorious service.
Both CWO Hargrave and Flying Officer Laura Turner continue to go above and beyond behind the scenes, and we couldn't be more proud that they have been recognised as an example and for their devotion to duty.
