City of Leeds Water Polo Club - Sharks

A great day at the 1st Annual Masters (40+) Tournament held on Saturday at Hucknall Leisure Centre.

Four Leeds players were part of the Northern Alliance team, joining players from Morley, Huddersfield, Bingham and Grantham in a tournament that brought together former players and celebrated the people who continue to support our sport.

The day featured Hucknall, Northern Alliance, South Derbyshire and Southwell/Leander, with plenty of competitive games and good spirit throughout.

The final saw Northern Alliance face Hucknall in a rematch of their earlier group game. This time, Northern Alliance came out on top, winning a closely fought contest 4-3 to become the first Masters champions.

A big thank you to everyone who took part, and especially to Hucknall Water Polo Club for hosting such a brilliant event. Hopefully this is the first of many, and we look forward to next year’s tournament!

Congratulations to our Leeds players Harry Peters and Charlotte Davis on being selected for the 2011 North East Regional Squads for the boys’ and girls’ teams!

A big shout-out to our coach Grant, who will be coaching the North East boys’ squad!

A massive well done to all the players a fantastic team effort from start to finish.

Our senior team had two home games against Morley Water Polo Club Development Team and York City Water Polo Club, coming away with 1 win and 1 draw 👏

And to top it off, our U16s put in a brilliant performance against Huddersfield Otters Waterpolo Club U16s to secure their first win of the season! 🔥

Great effort from everyone involved and plenty to build on!

What a great year it’s been! A big thank you to everyone who’s supported the club this season. Huge thanks to all our players, parents, coaches, volunteers, and club officials for the effort, commitment, and positive vibes at every session and match.

Our last junior Christmas training session was an absolute blast and the perfect way to wrap up the year!🎅🎅

We have some great news to share! The City of Leeds Water Polo Club - Sharks is thrilled to welcome Castleford Water Polo Club into our club.

Starting this season, we will have a combined Men's Team(Leeds-Cas) playing in Mens Conference Championship 1!
We are incredibly excited about this, and we believe it will open up opportunities for our juniors to step up and play at the men's level.

However, we cannot hide our sadness. Seeing a healthy established club like Castleford Waterpolo Club disappear is a clear and painful sign of the challenges facing water polo in the UK. It highlights just how difficult it is for clubs to keep going with minimal support from Swim England and relying entirely on the volunteers.

We're going to keep Castleford's spirit alive and are committed to making this new team a success.

What a great effort from our juniors today(U16s & U14s)! While we lost both games against City Of Sheffield Waterpolo, they played some brilliant water polo and we can definitely see the progress.

Another great game for our men's team! We took home a solid win tonight against Morley Water Polo Club B 23-12. This victory puts us in 1st position on the wakefield league table with two games left to go.
