There are few times in life when a body changes as much, or as fast, as it does through pregnancy and early motherhood.
Something I've always believed is that movement should change with you through all of it, not ask you to push against what your body is doing. Growing a baby, recovering from birth, learning to carry a car seat on one arm. These are big physical seasons, and they deserve proper support.
That is exactly what our pre and post natal classes are for. Small groups, intelligent movement adapted to where you are that week, and a teacher in Sadie who knows this territory from the inside as a Polestar-trained teacher, a nurse and a mum of three.
Whether you are pregnant and want to stay strong and comfortable, or finding your way back after birth, there is a place for you here. And often it is the women beside you, in exactly the same season, who make it.
Two options each week:
Tuesdays 5:30pm, Pre and Post Natal Reformer
Thursdays 6:30pm, Pre and Post Natal Spring Wall
Postnatal is suitable from 6 weeks with healthcare provider clearance. New to the studio? Come and try, 3 classes for £39. Book through the MindBody app or chapelallertonpilates.co.uk.

Most people don't know what goes into training
A client asked me in class the other day "what does Polestar even mean?"
I loved that question. Because it's the right one to ask.
The honest answer: before a Polestar teacher ever cues another person, they have spent hundreds of hours in their own body, studied anatomy in a way that has nothing to do with naming bones, worked through six months of in-person training and then another six months of supervised apprentice teaching, logged and checked by an educator. Usually me.
By the time they stand in front of you, they have sat with hundreds of real clients, in real bodies, with real conditions.
There is no legislation in our profession. Anyone can call themselves a Pilates teacher. Which is exactly why we talk about this because when you choose where to practise, you deserve to know what's behind the person in the room with you.
Swipe through all five points. Number two is the one that surprises people most.
Interested in training yourself? We run Polestar Mat, Reformer and Comprehensive courses here at the studio.

Something I've believed since the very beginning of my teaching career is that Pilates isn't one thing for one type of person.
It's a practice that can hold you at every stage of life. Every season. Every version of yourself.
When I founded Chapel Allerton Pilates, this was the vision. Not a studio for the already-fit, or the already-flexible, or the people who've never had an injury or a difficult diagnosis or a body that's been through something and needs a little more care. A studio for everyone. A studio that could genuinely meet you where you are.
Over thirty years of teaching I've watched people move through what I think of as three stages.
Heal, where the focus is on rebuilding trust and function after pain or injury or life. Prevent, where we build the deep strength and resilience that protects the body for the long term. And Thrive, that remarkable moment when a client realises they're not managing their body anymore, they're actually living in it.
What I've learned is that these stages aren't linear. You might move between them throughout your life, and that's not failure, that's just being human. What matters is having somewhere that understands all three and knows how to support you through each of them.
That's what we've spent thirty years building.

When the teaching is right, you don't just feel it in your body. You feel it in the room.
We care deeply about the environment here, because Pilates deserves a proper home. The right apparatus. A clean, considered space. Teachers who know their subject inside out and love sharing it. That combination is not as common as it should be, and we never take it for granted.
So to hear that it comes through in the experience, every time, means everything to us.

Nobody really prepares you for how your body changes in your 40s and 50s.
The fatigue that wasn't there before. The sleep that stopped being reliable. The pelvic floor you thought you'd dealt with after having children, quietly shifting again. The balance that's just slightly less certain than it used to be.
I'm in the early stages of perimenopause myself. I say that because this isn't advice from a distance.
I'm living it alongside many of you. And after 30 years of teaching movement, I want to be clear about something: what you're feeling is real, it's hormonal, and most of it responds remarkably well to the right kind of Pilates.
Bone density. Muscle mass. Pelvic health. Balance. Your nervous system. All five are covered in this carousel and all five are things we work with every single day at the studio.
Swipe through, especially slide 3. It's the one most women tell me they wish they'd known sooner.

We've always believed you should understand what's happening in your body, not just follow instructions.
There's a difference between being told what to do in a class and being taught. We try, always, to give you the understanding behind the movement. Why this. Why now. What it's actually doing. Because when you know that, you carry it with you. Into your daily life, into how you move, into how you think about your body.
