Another great day was had at Portobello where the club competed in the Scottish Eastern Under 14 event. This is a great event for younger members to get a taste of competition against a great mix of competitors.

Our two teams did amazingly well;

A special shout out to the younger group, where we had 3 debuts! Huge thanks also to our coaches Jasmine and Lauren.

RLSS UK are incredibly proud of the amazing work our Lifesaving Clubs, so to celebrate their contribution, each month we'll be showcasing one of our fantastic clubs. 💙🛟

For November, we’re thrilled to feature the dynamic Nithsdale Lifesavers Club as the RLSS UK Lifesaving Club of the Month. Rooted in a mission to empower local youth, Nithsdale provides a vibrant and supportive environment where young people can build essential lifesaving skills, foster confidence, and embrace a healthy, active lifestyle.

Nithsdale Lifesavers Club’s commitment to community impact shines through their involvement in regional and national events. From hosting action-packed, scenario-based demonstrations like rope throws and first aid simulations to supporting major public awareness events, they play an active role in promoting water safety. Notably, club members recently took part in a public awareness day with Water Safety Scotland on World Drowning Prevention Day on 25 July 2024 at the scenic Loch Lomond.
Though one of the smaller clubs across the UK, Nithsdale has become a tech-savvy standout. They’ve shared their creative IT solutions with other clubs, offering innovative approaches to administration, registration, equipment tracking, and qualification management.

Celebrating their achievements and community spirit, the club recently hosted an awards ceremony where one beloved coach marked his 60th birthday with an unexpected splash, to the delight of the whole club!

Nithsdale also boasts a talented team of lifesaving sport athletes, many of whom excelled at the Scottish Regional Heats. Their success led to selections for the national competition in Leeds, where they represented Scotland with pride and skill.

Congratulations to Nithsdale Lifesavers Club on their incredible achievements! The RLSS UK Club Development Team wishes them continued success as they inspire, support, and make waves in their community and beyond.
