Frustrating 3-2 defeat today as we let a 2-0 lead slip.
Alfie O’Toole curled in a great goal from the edge of the area for our first. Followed by Alfie Donohue pouncing on a poor clearance to go 1-on-1 and finish well in a half that we also had a clear penalty turned down and a goal ruled out for offside that would’ve made it 3-0.
Aberford kept the ball well, but also hardly gave GK Dan much to do in goal.
However, with 2mins until the break a freak of a goal went the home side’s way. As a smashed clearance from their centre-back travelled from midway inside his own half straight in.
Second half, Aberford looked much more of a threat. They got back level on 60’ with a good close range finish.
We had chances to go back ahead, but a lack of composure meant we didn’t make the GK do enough. While Will Harling’s effort sent the GK the wrong way, but was cleared by a defender.
With 15 to go we gifted them a 1-on-1 and a clinical finish saw us go behind.
A tired display in the last half an hour, but after the positive first half performance we should’ve done more to hold on & come away with a point.
