PE is changing.

You’re going to hear a lot about physical literacy over the next few months. It’s not a trend. It’s been around for years — and it’s finally being put where it belongs: at the centre of PE.

So what is it?

Physical literacy is about giving children the motivation, confidence, physical skills and understanding to be active for life.

It’s not about picking the best at sport. It’s about ensuring all children leave school with:

Competence in fundamental movement (running, jumping, throwing, catching)

Confidence to take part without fear of failure

Motivation to keep active beyond school

Understanding of why movement matters

The proposed changes to the curriculum reflect this shift, one we’ve been delivering at Primary Influence UK for years.
