On Tuesday we were delighted to welcome the Yorkshire Boys for their match against Northumberland ⛳️

Garforth member Sam MacIntyre was selected as part of the Yorkshire Boys team, which came out on top with an impressive 11–4 win 👏

We received really positive feedback from the players, officials, and supporters on both the condition of the course and the welcome they received from the club.

A great day for Yorkshire golf, and we look forward to welcoming Yorkshire Union back to Garforth again soon.

Following on from our post a couple of weeks ago celebrating Jake being part of the Arkansas State University team that won the Sun Belt Conference Men’s Championship — qualifying them for the regional finals — we’re delighted to share even more fantastic news ⛳️

Jake was once again part of the team at the regional finals, where they finished 4th to qualify for the National Finals for the first time in the university’s history! 👏

Along the way, Jake and his teammates have been competing against some huge names in college golf, including Luke Poulter and John Daly II.

Another incredible achievement for Jake and the team, and everyone at the club is incredibly proud.

Best of luck in the Nationals Jake — we’re all behind you! 💪

“Course in good condition, food and staff top notch. Played 27 holes, a good day had by all.” – Jonathan ⛳️

Thank you to Jonathan for the great review.

There’s nothing better than hearing golfers have enjoyed the full Garforth experience — great golf, great hospitality, and a full day on the course.

We’re delighted you enjoyed your visit and hope to welcome you back again soon!

Some of our favourite photos from the back nine at Garforth Golf Club 📸

The back half of the course really comes into its own, with one of the toughest finishing stretches in Yorkshire!

Which hole on the back half do you find most challenging and why?

Planning a golf society or group golf day this summer? ⛳️☀️

Our latest blog explores why Garforth Golf Club is the perfect venue for your next golf day — from our classic Dr Alister MacKenzie design and challenging finishing stretch to the warm welcome and great clubhouse atmosphere that make every visit memorable.

One of the things that makes Garforth such a great society venue is that the course challenges low handicappers while still being enjoyable and playable for higher handicaps too — perfect for groups of mixed abilities.

And with matches never truly decided until the final few holes, there’s always something to play for right to the end 👀

Did you know? ⛳️

Garforth Golf Club was officially opened on July 18th, 1914, with a spectacular exhibition match featuring two of the leading professionals of the time — Abe Mitchell and Tom Williamson.

Abe Mitchell is famously remembered as the man whose likeness sits atop the Ryder Cup trophy, while Tom Williamson had just finished tied 4th in the The Open Championship only weeks earlier.

More than 100 years later, it remains a proud part of the club’s rich history and golfing heritage.

Congratulations to Sam McIntyre who recorded the best gross score at the Junior Team Championship at Wetherby Golf Club last week 👏

There was more success for the club at the Leeds & District Union Division 2 at Darrington Golf Club, where Mark Foster claimed the best individual score with a fantastic performance ⛳️

While it wasn’t quite our year for either team in the team events, there was still some excellent golf played throughout and plenty of positives to take forward into the rest of the season.

The performances are a great reflection of the strength and depth of golf at Garforth Golf Club, and it certainly bodes well for a strong summer ahead for all our teams!

Congratulations to Pete Caddies from Waterton Park Golf Club, who won our Nelson Grimshaw Senior Open Championship on Tuesday with a superb level par 70. ⛳️

It proved to be a very tough scoring day, with players battling strong winds and an excellent field throughout the competition. Incredibly, not a single player managed to break par—even in the nett competition—which shows just how demanding the conditions were.

Despite the challenge, we received some fantastic feedback from the players, and we hope everyone who took part enjoyed the day at Garforth Golf Club.

A huge thank you to all competitors for supporting the event, and congratulations once again to Pete on an outstanding performance.

Hole in Focus: The 8th

A subtle but testing right-to-left dogleg that rewards precision and smart decision-making from the tee.

Your drive needs to be well placed, threaded carefully between the four fairway bunkers that guard either side of the landing area. Position is everything here—get it right, and the hole opens up beautifully.

Longer hitters may choose to take on the corner of the trees, bringing the green much closer into play and leaving just a short pitch in. It’s a bold option, but one that can pay off.

The approach is no easier, with a large green that slopes from back to front and well-placed greenside bunkers front left and back right ready to punish anything slightly off line.

A thinking player’s hole that rewards strategy as much as ex*****on.
