⛳ A tradition stretching back to 1958! 🤝

We were delighted to welcome Hessle Golf Club to Garforth on Sunday for our annual match — a fixture that has been taking place since 1958! 👏

This year was made even more special with John Deeming, past YUGC and Hessle President, donating a new trophy to be played for, replacing the original trophy which had sadly been lost. 🏆

A brilliant day of golf, plenty of fun and, most importantly, a great opportunity to catch up with old friends and welcome new faces.

Here’s to many more years of this fantastic tradition! 👏⛳️

Hessle Golf Club

⛳ Our 17th is another long Par 4 in one of the toughest finishes in Yorkshire, measuring 431 yards from the back tee. This one demands a well-struck tee shot, with the ideal line taking you left of the bunker towards the corner of the dogleg.

Longer hitters can take on the corner and shorten the approach, but there’s little room for error with forests on either side waiting for anything wayward! 🌲

The approach takes you back towards the clubhouse, with a long iron or fairway wood required to find the long, narrow green.

🎯 The tip: favour the left-hand side and use the slope to feed the ball onto the green.

👏 A superb achievement for Grace! ⛳️

Huge congratulations to Garforth member Grace Gill, who finished 3rd in the Bronte Law Junior Series event at Moor Allerton over the weekend. 🏆

This was an England Golf 54-hole event, making a top-three finish a fantastic achievement and a great reward for Grace’s hard work and consistency. 💪🏌️‍♀️

Well done, Grace — a brilliant performance! 👏👏

🏌️‍♂️ A Bank Holiday to remember for our member Ryan Beach! 🏆

Ryan started his Bank Holiday Monday with a hole-in-one on the 5th… but he wasn’t finished there!

On the 17th, Ryan then holed out from 136 yards for a 2! 🎯🔥

Two hole-outs in the same round is an incredibly rare achievement — what a way to spend a Bank Holiday! Following on from Dan making a hole in one on our par 4 1st hole last week, our members are playing some great golf at the moment!

🏌️‍♂️ Not something you see every day!

A huge congratulations to Garforth member Dan Longbottom, who made a hole-in-one on our Par 4 1st hole in yesterday’s Stableford! 🤯⛳

Not a bad way to start a round… especially after Dan had been in the Pro Shop beforehand complaining about how bad his driving was! 😂

Friday was a fantastic day at Garforth, with our ladies enjoying Mr Captain’s 9-Hole Competition. 🏌️‍♀️

And what better way to finish the day than with Prosecco and cake! 🥂🍰

A great afternoon of golf, fun and friendship. Thank you to everyone who took part and helped make it such an enjoyable day! 👏
