Meet Chelsea 😊

Since joining Form Leeds in February she has gained so much!

Between shift work and being a busy mum of 2, Chelsea has made a conscious effort to build consistency and learn to love exercise again 💛

Catch Chelsea in the 9:45am class or having regular 1-2-1 PTs with Coach Chris.

Hear it from Chelsea 👇

“Since joining Form Leeds the consistency of my training has increased ten fold!

It’s made me consider my mobility and the importance of warm ups and accessory work to improve my skills.
Coach Chris has been so patient with me!

I’ve got the best attitude towards exercise that I have done in a long time.

I did a 60kg thruster complex recently at the Rainhill trials which is a huge win!”

Strong pulling muscles (back, shoulders, arms & grip) support how you move, feel and function every single day 👇

Here’s 7 reasons why you should be improving your pulling strength!

1. Better Posture & Less Pain
Hours at desks, driving and phones pull our posture forward. Building pulling strength helps strengthen the upper back, improve posture and reduce tension through the neck, shoulders and lower back.

2. Everyday Tasks Become Easier
Carrying shopping bags, lifting kids, moving furniture, pulling doors, walking the dog… life is full of pulling movements. Strength makes these tasks feel easier and safer.

3. Improved Shoulder Health & Stability
Balanced upper body strength helps support healthy shoulders. Strong back and pulling muscles can improve joint stability and reduce the risk of aches, imbalances and injury.

4. Stronger Grip = Greater Independence
Grip strength is closely linked with long-term health, function and physical independence. Pulling exercises challenge your grip, helping you stay capable in daily life.

5. Better Performance - In & Out of the Gym
Whether it’s sport, manual work, running, climbing or simply keeping up with life, pulling strength improves power, control and overall movement quality.

6. Improved Core Strength & Body Control
Many pulling exercises require your core to stabilise your body while you move. This builds better coordination, balance and overall movement control.

7. Supports Healthy Ageing
Maintaining upper body strength becomes increasingly important as we age. Strong pulling muscles help preserve mobility, confidence and the ability to stay active and independent.

Big shoutout to Anton for taking the top spot in the Formidable 16 Club last month 🏆

Anton’s been showing up consistently for years now, putting in the work week after week, and it’s no surprise to see that effort paying off. Anton is a no complaints kind of guy, just head down and do the work. Working around injuries smartly and always encouraging the people around him. Bringing energy to the 7pm crew, and if you’re lucky enough to have him as your partner in a Super Saturday workout… you already know he’ll do the extra reps if you need him too💪

A huge part of what makes our community what it is. Well deserved mate 👏

🤝Strength training protects your future self

After the age of 30, we naturally start losing muscle mass. Strength training helps maintain muscle, bone density and independence as we age - making everyday life easier for longer.

🤝It’s not just about looking strong

Building strength improves posture, reduces aches and pains, and helps your body cope better with daily stress - whether that’s lifting kids, carrying shopping or sitting at a desk all day.

🤝Strength training boosts confidence outside the gym

Feeling physically capable has a huge mental impact too. Getting stronger often leads to better energy, resilience and self-belief in everyday life.

🤝Muscle is essential for long-term health

Strength training supports metabolism, heart health and blood sugar regulation. It’s one of the most effective ways to improve overall health and quality of life.

🤝You don’t need to “lift heavy” to benefit

Strength training is for everyone. Whether you’re using bodyweight, dumbbells or resistance bands, building strength safely and consistently is what matters most.

Hands up 🙋🏼‍♂️🙋🏽‍♀️ if you want to start strength training or already do and LOVE IT!
