Shelley vets win the Premier League !

Proving that you don’t need to be a brilliant team of ringers and Ex Pros - you just need to be reliable fit organised and consistently boring !

We’d like to think we give hope and inspiration to all others, just as the world famous Shelleys by stayuk123.co.uk led by the mighty Carl Nash did so in 2011 and again in 2013 a bunch of ordinary lads finally bettering top UK side Bone Idle to go forward and dominate Goals Bradford and then Goals Leeds Wednesday Premier leagues until the end of 2019

So after coming out of lockdown in May 2021, if anyone had dared to even suggest the collection of unfit bloated one legged crocks and Dinosaurs of the famous Shelleys by stayuk123.co.uk team could even dare to dream of reaching the upper heights of Goals Leeds Tuesday League, they would have been given odds greater than those given to Leicester City in 2015 !

So quite fitting the mighty Carl Nash turned out for the blue and reds 7-6 cup victory tonight (due to the absence of Chambers FC) bringing the Tuesday Premier league season to a close.

The table doesn’t lie, but without doubt this season has most certainly been a non runner, yes we’ve fielded a team for every game however difficult the challenge, not our fault others couldn’t or wouldn’t.

The key season making game being the earlier date with Chambers FC where the blue and reds could only field a team of 3 regulars Oliver Javadi, the EGTP, Martin Evans, Robby Dagless and two goals ringers, and the Blue and Reds led by the 55 years EGTP won the game 4-1 against the odds with the crazy OAP netting twice

But it was all about the journey, we started out in league 5 and having lost nearly every game and getting immediately relegated to league 6 and decision was made to at least stop losing games and become hard to beat.

Once that decision had been made, and all the team had bought in, the merry band of blue and reds set out to park the bus, focus on game management, and bore every team to death !

Promotion back to league 5 followed, and then champions of league 5, 4, 3, 2 followed in 5 season’s, just one seasons breather in League 1. And yes history will recall we did play every game in that run, at one time going 17 games unbeaten

Credits to Connor King, Adam Priestley, Shane Adams, Adrian Payne, Andrew Lagan, Oliver Javadi, Ry Fry, Jay Hoult and last but not least Tim Pickles (The EGTP) for making the dream possible

Vets edged out in 14 goal thriller

The blue and reds just can’t buy a win at the moment much to down to the constantly revolving weekly line ups

Tonight’s opposition Kurdistan FC exactly as their name suggests an excellent mix of youth and talent had the winners edge when it mattered late in the game to break blue and red hearts despite an absolutely superb man of the match keeping performance from Marco - but in truth the blue and reds were tactically poor and defensively suicidal at times and conceded goals they need not have

Danny Martin Evans Ry Fry Adrian Payne all helped themselves to goals tonight - EGTP Also played a part

Battling Vets beaten 6-1 but stay top !

No fairytale result tonight and just a reflection of how far the vets have come so fast from league 6 to league 1 in just over 2 years.

The vets put in a disciplined organised hard working performance against the Tuesday leagues best team ‘who put nets up’ but the quality simply the difference

The vets once again scratching to field a fit competitive side led by the EGTP fought toe to toe in the first half but still trailed 3-0 at the break due to 3 simply brilliant finishes from the opponents

There was more bad news in the second half as the vets shipped another 2 against the run of play - Ry Fry restored hope with a regulation shuffle Meg and finish and both the EGTP Aidy Adrian Payne George wood and Lukasz all had their fair share of chances to restore dignity to the score line

But the quality of the opposition simply too much for the blue and Red vets tonight - Marco once again superb in GK nothing he could do to stop any of tonight’s goals

Battling vets finally run out of steam !

A valiant inspirational effort against the odds saw the league leaders finally Beaten 6-3 against David Beckham FC

The vets unable to field Ry Fry and Martin Evans in tonight’s game needing to play the full 40 minutes without a rolling sub against a much younger fitter side

Outplayed for most of the game the vets gave it a real go - defending deep and counter attacking coming back from 3-1 down to level terms 3-3 H/T with goals from Danny Adrian Payne and the EGTP

But the posts and crossbar just kept getting in the way for the vets and as the second half rolled on the blue and reds became more and more exhausted in the muggy evening heat with Beckham FC ruthlessly using the space and pace to steal the late goals despite the valiant efforts of Oliver Javadi and GK Marco who was again superb tonight

Shelley vets draw 5-5 in the cup !

Entertaining thriller against their great rivals chambers FC. The vets very very sloppy and care free in the 1st half tailing 3-1 at H/T - yes it’s the cup but it still matters !

Much better in the second half after Oliver Javadii had clicked into gear - and goals from the EGTP Aidy Adrian Payne and Danny Ringer turned thing’s completely around - another neat and tidy performance from Marco - Martin Evans was there but struggling with illness

Should be a league game to report next week !

The vets win 4-1 to stun Chambers FC

The EGTP with 2 quick fire goals helping the threadbare blue and reds to a stunning smash and grab victory tonight to go 3 points clear at the top of Tuesday premier league !

It’s was the game against the vets greatest rivals chambers fc that nearly didn’t go ahead, with both teams battling injuries absentees pre-match, the vets only able to field 3 regular players to start with the EGTP leading the line with Martin Evans and Oliver Javadi aided by tekkers Robby Rob Daggy Dagless Marco Francomano and Danny Ringer making up the starting 6

The vets outplayed for most of the first half defended superbly and countered ruthlessly - Danny Ringer with the 1st goal with suoervet EGTP with a stunning quick fire brace to give the vets a commanding 3-0 win against the run of play.

Martin Evans added a 4th early in the second half to put clear distance between the teams and the late arriving Ry Fry destroyed the last hopes of opposition with loan GK Marco in absolutely superb form in goal - chambers did get a late goal back but too little too late for them tonight !

Record breaking Vets Top Tuesday League !

We would love to report another performance let alone victory but unfortunately the last 2 weeks of fake 5 nil wins due to opponents cancelling are all the vets can report since their stunning 4-3 win against ‘FC David Beckham’

Either way the table doesn’t lie - so we shall enjoy it while it lasts !

The Vets win their first prem game 4-3

An absolutely fantastic team effort from the aging blue and red crocks tonight the Shelley vets against all the odds winning their first premier league game despite losing Jay Hoult Gk to injury so OAP EGTP took the gloves and had an outstanding last 15 minutes shutout to keep the flag flying for the over 50’s !

Outplayed and out possessed for most of the game the vets parked the bus and countered into space beautifully with quick decisive passing and precision finishing

Ry Fry Connor King (his last game) Martin Evans all on the score sheet tonight - martin evans denied a hatrick due to reffing

But the goal scorers were irrelevant tonight it was all about the team with Oliver Javadi and Aidy payne putting in fantastic shifts

We play with discipline - we don’t give refs any trouble and you never know some might just recognise we are are a good team ‘Brian Clough’

Big massive thanks and recognition to Connor king who heads to pastures new - he joined us as a boy a bit wet round the ears in league 6 and he’s grown with the team as they’ve progressed to the Premier league and leaves us as a fine young man !

Shelley vets win 9-3 in the cup

Really just a stroll out tonight against the mighty ‘Get Shrecked’ to progress into round 2 - Aidy Adrian Payne with 4 goals - Connor King - Martin Evans - Ry Fry all on the score sheet too and Oliver Javadii and the EGTP nearly on the score sheet too

Back to the premier league next week !

Shelley vets lose 7-2 in premier debut

The vets were still in this one with 5 minutes to go only trailing 4-2 to premier league hot shots Tekkers, and if Aidy payne had only converted when it seemed impossible to miss they could have gone on to get a result, but it wasn’t to be on a strange night of the old boys against the even older boys

Never the less a battling disciplined performance from the world famous blue and reds way out of their league in the Wednesday premiership, and Wasn’t for the lack of effort and the vets even agreeing to most sporting gesture possible to hot shots Tekkers pre-match allowing the kick off to be rescheduled to 8pm to allow their opponents to field their strongest team

The vets giving a debut to young Dee Markintus who scored on his debut - were outplayed for most of the game but countered well and intelligently and when Aidy Payne scored to reduce arrears to 4-2 in the final 10 minutes the boys in gold were truly rattled

The EGTP standing in for Jay Hoult had a great game - Martin Evans Conor King and Oliver Javadi true warriors

Shelley vets win the Championship !

It’s been a long journey that officially started 30th March 2021 after the Uk exited lockdown for the final time and the vets made the decision to stop losing games for fun

Adrian Payne was back ‘in part’ after his long injury lay off which was a miracle in itself, the vets acquired Andy Lagan Jay Hoult the occasional flurry from Ry Fry and Connor King who eventually shone, complimenting the likes of martin evans oliver javadi Adam Priestley and dare we say it the Ever Green Tim Pickles and the vets took off with 5 promotions and 4 league titles

The vets didn’t have a league game tonight due to ‘dirty leeds’ their opponents cancelling gifting the vets and 5-0 win they would have most likely won anyway

For the record they played a friendly kick about with Joe’s 49 toes - Jay Hoult had a testicular game and his balls are currently on ice, and the EGTP got the tackle of the night taking out young joe

Can the vets hold their own in the premiership ?
