On 28 February 2026, the LUU Vertical Fitness Pole & Aerial Showcase returns to the
Riley Smith Theatre with a brand-new full-stage production: Heavy Is the Crown.
Inspired by the myth of Persephone, this year’s showcase explores what it means to lose
power, survive control, and reclaim yourself. Through pole dance and aerial performance,
each act brings a chapter of her journey to life — from innocence and descent, to
endurance, resistance, and transformation. The crown is not a symbol of glory here, but of
weight, responsibility, and the cost of survival.
This is VF society’s flagship event, featuring nearly all members in a three-hour
theatrical showcase, with sound and lighting supported by LUU Backstage Society. Expect
bold storytelling, striking visuals, and performances that stay with you long after the curtain
falls.
