Leeds Formula Race Team consists of students from across the University of Leeds Faculty of Engineering. The majority of students that make up the team are either studying Mechanical or Automotive Engineering. This year the School of Mechanical Engineering achieved an impressive 1st place in the Guardian
University league table, further cementing the University of Leedsβ reputation as one of the leading institutions for mechanical engineering in the UK. Level 3 & 4 students undertake specific academic projects on the car, while level 1 & 2 understudy the older students and assist in the manufacture and car build. At Leeds we believe in involving studens from all years of the various engineering degree programs to ensure there is continuity between each years team, with all students working towards restoring Leeds Formula Race Team as the number one UK Formula Student Race Team. Leeds Formula Race Team can boast significant industry experience, with many of its members completing a year in industry or a prestigious summer placement. Companies include: Red Bull Racing, Mercedes Formula 1, Williams, Cummins, Rolls Royce and Gibson Motorsport. This experience enables our team to more effectively implement their technical knowledge to a practical application, a skill that is so vital in Formula Student. The team is grouped into several areas: Chassis & Suspension, Engine, Driveline & Brakes,Aerodynamics, Business and Marketing. Throughout 2015 and 2016 we will be continuing to test and run last yearβs car, F16
enabling us to develop the new Gryphon One car, which will be our most reliable yet.
