⭐️ STAFF STORIES ⭐️

This week it’s the turn of our part-time sales assistant Jonathan! He loves running everything from 800m on the track to 10km on the roads, and even braves the steeplechase! He’s represented Sussex in cross country and track, and now trains with Leeds Beckett University. After his 2026 season was sadly cut short due to a broken collar bone, he’s now back up to full training and getting ready to get stuck into a winter cross country season.

Shoe of choice: ASICS GT-2000

‘I’ve had loads of pairs of these over the years. It’s a super reliable shoe, perfect for putting in lots of miles’.

Next week we’ll introduce another member of the Headingley team! 😎

⭐️ STAFF STORIES ⭐️

This week, we’re highlighting our sales assistant Sam! A talented track and cross country runner, Sam has represented Team GB four times. His proudest achievements include 4th place at Under 20s European Cross Country, and making the finals at the Under 20s European champs on the track. He boasts an impressive PB of 3:40 for the 1500m.

Sadly, this year has been marred by a couple of unlucky injuries, but he’s now looking ahead to the 2027 track season.

Shoe of choice: Brooks Ghost Amp

‘I’ve really been enjoying these recently! It’s a comfy shoe for easy runs, but gives you a bit back when you pick up the pace’.

Nutrition: Precision and OTE

‘I tend to use a mix of PF30s and OTE super gels for my sessions and long runs. They sit well on the stomach and work well for me’.

🌅 Golden Hour 🌅

Great to enjoy the last few weeks of daylight on our SRG last night!

If you’re looking for a weekly social run that’s friendly and inclusive, look no further than Up and Running Headingley - we meet every Monday at 6pm, and everyone is welcome. Though it’ll only be a week or two until we’re breaking out the headtorches!

⭐️ STAFF STORIES ⭐️

Everyone here at Up & Running Headingley loves to run, from 800m on the track to long mountain ultra marathons! This week, we’re highlighting Store Manager Pete, who last weekend took on the 7 Valleys Ultra in the Lake District (110km).

‘It was my first time lining up for a 100km+ race in 7 years, so I knew it wasn’t going to be easy. The first half went pretty smooth, and then it was a case of hanging in there and grinding out a finish”.

Shoe of choice: Topo Ultraventure 5

‘Plenty of cushioning, and a nice wide toe box makes this an ideal ultra marathon shoe’.

Socks: Balega Enduro Quarter

‘I’ve been wearing these for years and they’re super reliable. 23 hours on my feet and not a single blister!’.

What’s next?

‘Working on some winter speed! I’ll be lining up at the in January to put it to the test’.
