Well, it wasn’t quite the season it was shaping up to be when we confidently stepped up a gear after last year’s promotion, but we know the time will come round again soon and we’re looking forward to it.
Until then, we snuck in some great training sessions, a friendly match against Batley and lots of running around and even a socially distanced, outside AGM this evening.
Horsforth Ladies have seen this rubbish year through together and we’re excited for some summer fun....together.
Bring it on!

What a bunch of crackers!
Lockdown 2.0 awaits, but just enough time to squeeze in one last (freeeeeezing) training session.
Standing a respectable 5th in the 3rd Division, having just been newly promoted, we’re going in with our heads held high and a bounce in our step.
It’s still early days and yet the team spirit is thriving. Bring on the rest of the season!
In the meantime, one and all at Horsforth Ladies Hockey Club wish you all the best during this crazy time. Stay safe.
And don’t forget, shop locally in Horsforth for as much as you can, help local business to keep going, especially in the run up to Christmas.
Let’s stay together and come out the other end of this in one piece!

Early days but we’ll take top of the table!
It was a windy but bright day when we welcomed Sheffield Uni Bankers to Horsforth.
With plenty of possession we were just unable to get that final touch on the ball and we went in at half time 0-0.
Bankers came out all guns blazing and stepped up a gear in the early second half, and with increased intensity the match picked up, but Horsforth got two quick goals from open play to seal the win with ten minutes to go.

As the newly promoted club entering into the league above, there was a palpable anticipation as we stood waiting for the push back against Pickering HC, a welcoming and friendly team.
The first half from Horsforth was a sluggish performance, going in at 2-1 down at half time having just not found their groove against a really good and consistent opposition.
But the team engine suddenly clicked early in the second half, the passes started flowing and the effort switched up a phase and we were delighted to come away from our first match of the season with a 5-2 win.
Lots to build on for the coming season and lots more fun and chat to be had!

AND WE’RE OFF!
A great Friendly against Batley, who have accompanied us this year in promotion to the next division.
They were short of players so we added some numbers for them and in each half three of our players helped them out. And it was a pleasure to do so, they’re a really lovely team.
The score? We’re genuinely not sure! We think it was a draw, but it was an excellent day out.
We could all tell that with lockdown behind us we had missed out on fitness and that first game got ALL the muscles crying out, but spending some time in the company of each other was a real boost and we’re excited for the rest of the season, in whatever shape it may take.
It was great to see old faces, returning faces and new faces and no matter what the outcome, we are so ready to enjoy this season .
Bring it on!
We wish Batley all the best for the season too and thank them for a great afternoon.
Now, pass the hand gel.
