Busy week 👊

Started with two days work at height & general graft at helping create a blank canvas for the team & to dream up some awesome routes for Roses 🧗‍♂️

Then a day’s anchor inspection at .blackpool for .moore making sure everything’s ship-shape 👌

One day off with a brief trip to play on another Denham project with 🧗‍♂️

Then leading an Open Yorkshire Three Peaks for with all clients completing & most falling inside the 12hr challenge time ⛰️⛰️⛰️

Great first week to a busy season 👌

Lancashire Grit this time. I quite enjoy exploring all these hidden quarries & seeing what routes have been forgotten. Sadly part of this venue had fallen down since the guidebook was printed & one side of it had been reclaimed by nature. But a bit of gardening 🌱 revealed enough placements for a nice slabby Severe ✅ & a gymnastic HVS ✅ featuring massive holds & cut-loose overhangs. Probably a crag for one short visit & never again, but ultimately it’s good to be out in the evening sun with

Gritstone suffering 🤘 Third climbing trip of the year - this time out with Jimbo.

Day 1 started at Castle Naze with a few easy solos to warm up, then we led the classics AP Chimney ✅ Pilgrims Progress HS ✅ Scoop Direct HVS ✅ & Scoop Face HVS ✅ the rain decided to move in & give Jimbo some prompting at the run-out top of Scoop Face 🌧️🌧️🌧️ so we saved Nozag for a different day & ducked the wet stuff with a relocation to The Roaches for the evening. Cue a few more solos, alternate leads on the Classic Rock route Via Dolorosa VS ✅ then a top-rope exploration of Chalk Storm E3 (glad I didn’t try to onsight that one 😂).

Day 2 we decided to check out Hen Cloud where Jimbo ticked Central Route VS ✅ (don’t have shoes hanging off your harness when you’re climbing off-width) I then went up the jamming/laybacking flake of Modern VS ✅ & Jimbo tried his best to satisfy his need for horrible gritstone cracks with Bachelors Left Hand VS ✅ before finishing the trip with a ballsy lead of En Rappel HVS ✅ (check the unprotected crux start on that photo 😂)

Two days of gritstone suffering with good company in the sun, tired, shoulders sore, hands bleeding, fingers short on skin, 20+ routes ticked between us, ace weekend 👌

One last morning in Pembrokeshire before the rain hit once again featuring dolphins, paddleboards & proper seaside fish & chips. Then home… & no I still can’t stand up for long before I fall in, but I do quite like jumping into cold water so 🤷🏻‍♂️

Porthgain & St David’s North ✅

Day 2 in Pembroke & with southerly rain 🌧️ & cold winds forecast we decided to try & stay warm & dry for as long as possible with an early start exploring the northern section of coast ☀️ Spent the morning at Porthgain looking for the abseil descent on Penclegyr. Unfortunately we couldn’t find an abseil that met our standards so decided to relocate to Rose area where ticked her first trad lead on a sea cliff. With rain beginning to fall at lunchtime I was all up for calling it, but Simone found a slab route at St David’s North around 10mins away that we thought was probably worth checking out… turned out it was; perfectly positioned boulder for an abseil & a solid belay just above the sea-washed rocks at the bottom of Black Wall. With that route ticked & the rain intensifying we decided to call it. Not much climbing but 3 lesser known venues explored - we’ll take that with this forecast.

Ynys Lochtyn ✅

Away in Pembrokeshire with for a few days. As we were passing it felt rude not to stop in at Ynys Lochtyn. A quick bounce down a two pitch abseil (with a rebelay) with the intention of ticking the long, friable traverse of Wild Walks got a bit spicier than expected with some cold blasts of rain during my lead. But route ticked nonetheless. More tomorrow if we can dodge the rain 🤞

Noggarth ✅

This might go down as the most confusing crag in Lancashire. Is it sport? Is it trad? Why does this HVS have three bolts as well as pegs & trad placements? I don’t know… & to be honest who cares when you’re just happy to finally be out on dry rock? 🤷🏻‍♂️ first time out on the sharp end for 2026 with 🧗‍♂️ bigger adventures coming…
