Past Lady Captains’

The Past Lady Captains gathered at Leek Golf Club to compete in their annual medal competition.

Despite the exceptionally warm weather and extremely dry conditions, the course was presented in excellent condition, with true, consistent greens that were enjoyed by everyone.

There were some fantastic scores returned, with five ladies producing particularly impressive rounds. Congratulations go to Deb Barnett, who was the overall winner with an outstanding net 66.

Following the competition, 17 Past Lady Captains came together to enjoy each other’s company over a delicious meal provided by Bailey’s. It was a wonderful opportunity to catch up, share memories, and celebrate another successful gathering.

A sincere thank you to all the staff at Leek Golf Club and Bailey’s for their hard work and hospitality, which helped make the day such a memorable occasion for everyone involved.

GIRLS AND LADIES ON TOUR

On Monday 27th July, four Junior Girls and four lady members set off to Walsall GC to represent Leek in a Greensomes Competition organised by Shirley Matthews the Staffordshire Ladies County Golf Association Junior Organiser.

We were given a warm welcome and the sun was shining on a beautifully presented course.

Lady Captain, Ange Broadhurst accompanied Isla Marson, Karen Griffiths partnered Sophia Brookes and Lucy and Emma Hodgson were joined by Carolyn Hubble and Lynne Ball respectively.

The event was organised to give non handicap players an opportunity to play with guidance from their lady partner with rules and etiquette and of course to have fun.

I think the ladies were more nervous than our junior partners, not wanting to let them down on the course 😊

Much fun was had and the girls played some amazing golf from tee to green and showing no fear of the bunkers !

Ten teams took part and I am delighted to report that Lucy Hodgson came 2nd and her sister Emma won the competition and was presented with a trophy after the refreshments had been served.

The ladies enjoyed the day so much that we have promised the girls another game in the same format at Leek.

We look forward to seeing all four girls on the course and wish them every success in their golfing journey.
